The Bamboo courtyard.

"Father," Nie Shaoqing pulled away from Liqiu. He pulled up the blanket to cover her as he got out of bed and pulled down the bed curtain, blocking their view. 

Duke Shenxiu's eyebrows twitched, he glanced away from his youngest son and glared down at Nie Zihan.

He was infuriated by the scene the servant had created when he came to report the intruder's present location. 

It was bad enough that the alarm bells had interrupted his banquet but then his foolish son sent a guard to make a fuss at the banquet hall. 

Nie Zihan took a step back, "I... Father, I apologise. I miss understood, the soldiers reported that the intruder ran towards the bamboo courtyard. I was worried for Shaoqing's safety".

Nie Shaoqing's lips twitched as he heard that, he glanced at the older man and smirked. They all turned to the door as the guards outside shouted,
