Fame.

Infamy.

Notoriety.

Whatever it was called, as long as it propelled me into the limelight, I wanted it.

I wanted people to know me.

I wanted my name on their lips, my feats upon their tongues, and my sheer handsomeness constantly on the hearts and minds of all the European maidens.

At first, I wanted it so that I could somehow position myself to gain access to all of the Europeans' technological secrets.

But as the days went by, I wanted it because I simply wanted it.

It was the foolishness that was bound in my youthful heart, the sheer zest of life in my young blood that demanded that I rise above everybody else and do so in a manner worthy of posterity.

What can I say about that period of time?

Madness? Insanity?

Maybe not that serious.

Maybe… Mischief and fun.

Yes, that was exactly it.

I just wanted to have fun, the fate of the world be damned.
