He moved away from Gail and stood by me. He was smiling, and I was pissed. Earlier, he'd made me feel so small, as if I was nothing to him, and now he was smiling at me as if I we were the best of friends.

Well, not exactly, it was clear that he had sex on the brain from the intensity of the look he sent my way. I was trying to stay strong, because the man was handsome, and he exuded a natural confidence that somehow drew me. I'd watched as Gail danced around him, and wished I had the confidence to do the same. I had my legs crossed, fingers crossed and even my tongue, if there was such a thing, to keep him away from me. I had to be strong, but then the inevitable happened, and I moved when he came to stand closer to me. I stepped on his shoes, and my thoughts were lost once again. Those very big shoes.
