The sun had long set over the horizon in Jerusalem. The moon was nowhere, it was a night with a handful of stars trying to leak their meager light through the thick dark clouds filling the night sky.
Rashid Abubaker was one of the few people courageous enough to walk on the deserted streets during curfew hour. Ever since there was a riot in the Jerusalem market square, leading to the loss of hundreds of lives.
The atmosphere in the city was tense, the city inhabitants were nursing deep grievances against the Fatmid rulers and they were just waiting for a spark to ignite their anger and thereby drive them out. However, the Fatmid rulers were not fools to give them a chance to riot. Curfew had been passed in the whole of Jerusalem city from sundown to dawn.
