Prince was waiting for Anne. He walked to the registration nurse and said, "Do you mind giving your director a call I want to speak to him." "You are?" She asked.
"Prince Anthonio, a friend to Agent__" he said.
"Oh, you are the lawyer she came with. Wait here while I place a call to our director."
Prince eyes roamed around the hospital, then his eyes caught a tall fierce guy, his dark hair covered a part of his eye but the other eye was bruised. Prince decided to follow him and after taking some steps, the nurse called him.
"Yes," he answered, turning to her although his eyes kept darting at the strange man's direction.
"Here's the phone. The director is on the line."
Prince collected the phone. "Hello sir please give the phone to Agent Philips. I'm a lawyer and I have come with her."
"Agent you have got a lawyer on the line." The director told Anne.
Anne collected the phone, "Prince, help me check around for anyone looking suspicious enough to be a criminal."
"A criminal? What happened?" Prince asked.
"No time to explain, the CCTV has been wiped clean."
Prince looked around for the strange guy he saw earlier.
"Here thanks," he said, giving the phone back to the nurse and left. Prince steadied his pace, he knew the criminal was still in the hospital. He knew the criminal wasn't far away from him.
"What do you suggest we do Ms. Philips?" asked the director.
"I want to speak to the head of your security unit and then get the heck out of your hospital." Anne said.
"Go get me commander Charles." The director said to the guard.
"Yes sir," the guard said saluting.
"Sorry," Prince said as he bumped into a patient on a wheel chair being pushed by a nurse.
"No problem son," the old woman said smiling sheepishly.
Prince looked around and then sped down into another corridor. He muttered, "Where the heck can I find the criminal?"
The corridor seemed to be full with many patients, weird and silly. Prince lost counts of the corridor he passed through, he had lost his way. Another problem, he considered. He deeped his hand into his shirt pocket and brought out his cellphone, then he called Anne. The network was poor and all he got after dailing Anne's number was, "Unable to connect." Something he hated so much. He moved around looking for signal but there wasn't a trace.
"Fuck!" he growled under his breath. Now he had gotten to the corridor which had the entrance door.
"Sir," the commander said, bowing in front of the director.
"Here is the commander." The director said.
"I am Agent Philips and I have been informed of a murder case which has been cryptic for the past three years. The murderer has gained access again into this hospital and has tampered with one of the most important assets. He has cleaned the CCTV so there wouldn't be a trace of proof. The murderer has just tampered with one of your most valued device due to your inadequate security and your lack of experience__"
"Agent Philips," the director called.
Anne raised her hand, motioning the director to keep quiet.
"So now, in order to catch that criminal you have to close everywhere, lock every entrance apart from the main entrance and tell your men to keep count of people that leave the hospital starting from now."
"What if he has gone?" The commander asked.
"It's possible but . . . he wouldn't in order not to leave a trace. He must be looking for a way out and when you do what I said you should do, he will have no other option than to flee from the main entrance, then tell me who left the hospital and leave the rest for me. When I get the person, I will inform your director about it. My lawyer and I will take up the responsibility of punishing him or her. Give me your phone." Anne said.
He stared at the director for the director's instruction.
"Give it to her," the director commanded.
The commander gave Anne the phone, she collected it and programmed her number.
"Call me when you find the culprit," she said, handing him the phone. "Go."
The commander left.
"You think this dull plan of yours is gonna work?" The director asked.
"It may be dull but it is the best. I know it will work." Anne said.
"If this is a sham then be ready for war." He stated.
"But if it's not, then you have to admit that my father was murdered in your hospital because of your negligence of duty." She retorted.
"Deal Ms. Agent Philips," the director said, drawing out his hand for a handshake.
"Still in the period of Covid-19, director," Anne said and began to go.
She turned at once, and said, "I might never get the chance to meet you again but if I do, it will be to teach you and your vulnerable hospital a lesson."
Anne left.
Prince was looking around, a guy with a scarf across his head ascended the corridor, Prince steadied the guy. He was dressed in a simple black cassock. His face was hard and ugly, a swirl of coarse brown hair showed from the transparent scarf and almost radiant brown eyes that shown as if they were somehow fueled by the mysteries of hell.
As the man drew nearer, though Prince wanted to grab him and ask him, 'why the hell was he making things worst for his client'__ but he knew he hadn't the right and it was against the law to harass someone wrongly. He began to follow him till he reached the exit door and left. The guard at the door smirked at him, but Prince ignored him.
Anne's phone rang. She picked it. "Hello."
"It's me commander Charles, one of my men just informed me that some group of men, three to four has just left the building."
"Okay, thanks for letting me know. I will take it up from here," Anne said.
"Yes, Ms. Philips," the commander said.
Anne slid her phone back into her pocket.
Immediately, it rang again. She picked it.
"He just exited the building," said Prince.
"What do we do now?" Anne whispered. "His number plate . . . the number plate of his car."
"Yeah," Prince said, snapping a finger.
He rushed out of the huge building and headed to the parking lot. Two cars reversed leaving him stranded, thinking of which number plate to take.
"Fine," he said, arguing no further. "HAL-440RF, Toyota Corolla and LND-828GB, Sienna," he said, struggling to put it in his medulla . . .
Anne rushed out of the building.
"Did you get it?" she asked, levelling up to him.
"Yeah . . . HAL-828 . . . No em," Prince tried to recall, he wasn't good at keeping emergency things in his brain. He only crammed when necessary and not in a hurry.
"HAL . . . HAL-44 . . . um . . ."
"Oh prince what's the number plate? That is our only help," Anne said.
"HAL . . ."
"Will you recognize it, if you see it?" Anne asked.
Prince nodded, "I think so. But the other car's number plate was LND-828. Shit! I have forgotten it."
"Let me drive," Anne said, stretching out her right hand for the car key.
"Here," Prince said, throwing the car key to Anne.
Anne and Prince raced to the car and then hopped in, then Anne said, "Get ready for the ride."
Prince crossed his seat belt, immediately after Anne crossed hers.
"Where the hell are you going to?" Prince asked.
"Somewhere," Anne said, giving an angry shrug.
Anne drove for a while then from her side mirror she saw a black car coming up the drive, it applied its brake violently to a standstill and a fierce guy got out. He was followed by a guy, a stern looking man and a small guy.
"Prince," Anne called slowly.
"What the hell are we doing here? This is Waterworks, mind you," Prince shouted.
"Shh," Anne said. Then pointing outside her window, she said, "Is this the car?"
Prince studied the number plate which read HAL-440RF. Then he nodded.
"Is this the guy you saw?" Anne asked, pointing at the stem guy.
"Yeah he is one of them," Prince said.
"I'm thrilled, did you get my gun?" Anne asked.
Prince gave no answer.
"So how do I defeat them?" Anne asked running her hands through her hair.
Prince bent down and put his hand under Anne's seat.
"Hey what are__" Anne stopped immediately.
Prince brought out a case. He opened it, three different guns were in it.
"So?" he asked.
The sight of the gun and the expression on Prince's face sent a chill up her spine.
"Do you know how to use a gun?" he asked.
"Dave taught me how to use one," Anne said, her voice shrill.
"Should we get down from the car?" Prince asked.
Anne collected a gun and loaded the bullet then held the trigger and said, "Wished for you, a very long time."
And slided the gun down into the back of her skirt.
Prince collected the other two and handed Anne one more. "You need it more than I do."
Anne nodded and collected it. She put it in, at the side of her jean, "Let's make this bloody."
"I'm a lawyer, I won't kill but I will support you because you are my client."
Anne sucked in a smile, "Your problem is not my problem. Now man up. This is the best time to do so dude."
Anne got down from the car, so did Prince. They walked to the men.
"Please I have come all the way from Lagas, l don't know what happened to my car, it has a problem," Anne said.
"We don't have your time woman," a guy said.
"We could offer any amount you want," Prince said.
The guys all turned, "Really?"
"Yeah, we need you to check the engine for us," Anne said.
"I have seen you before," the stern man said.
"No," Prince said. "Not me."
The man moved closed to Prince and held his shirt, "Yes it must be you."
"It can't be me," he said. "I and my fiancee are just returning from Lagas," Prince said.
"It may not be him," another stern looking man suggested.
The stern man released him and walked to Anne's car, then opened the bonnet and began to examine it.
He turned and said, "There's nothing wrong with the car."
"No please check it properly," Anne said.
He checked it again, this time slowly, and carefully, then slowly he turned but got hit by the head of Anne's gun. Anne pulled him inside the car's boot and slowly moved to the small guy who was standing behind the black Corolla and hit his head with an iron rod, the guy fell unconscious as he began to bleed. Anne forced him into the boot where the other guy was.
Prince engrossed in a deep chit-chat with the remaining men concerning the money, before Anne approached one from the back, she hit him on the head, the guy turned and she hit him again but the guy remained conscious. He raced for Anne's neck.
Meanwhile, the boss had tried to attack Anne but Prince defended her, by bringing out his gun and pointing it to the man. The man stood still. Anne took up a big stone and flung it like a coin, it hit the boss's head and he collapsed. The other guy sent Anne reeling to the ground . He maneuvered to his opponent and dragged her up. He fell to the ground like a stick, after being hit by a stone.
"Anne are you alright?" Prince asked, dropping the stone.
"Yes . . . Yeah," Anne reluctantly answered.
They abruptly put the men in the boot and drove off.
