Saint Emerys, Master of the Ninth Tide Hall, was the only Kei on the Order of the Tidal Sword, which signified just what kind of influence he wielded.

Keis were not limited in their achievements and were allowed equal rights as any other gender to take positions of importance, 

There were many Keis in reputable government posts and other important positions within the capital city and beyond.

However, the Tide Temple was different. When it came to the Tide Temple, focusing ability was regarded as first and foremost, it was what decided who would be considered worthy above the many.

And for good reason, the Tide Temple handled many duties that kept the empire safe, most of which were dangerous.
