บท 10: Oh, lala~!
Before Luca was known as the queen of box-office movies and was crowned as a beautiful goddess in the entertainment circle, she was nothing but a country girl with big dreams. At a young age, she had already sworn to rise to popularity and stand at the peak.
Thanks to her peerless natural beauty and her natural talent, she had a few opportunities at sixteen. She grabbed all those small opportunities to workshop and hone her talent whilst going to school, which opened countless doors of opportunity.
Ten years later, she was already at the peak of her career. The brightest star among the stars.
Despite that, not many, or rather, only Luca knew that at 26, she was still a virgin. Proud, but not loud.
It was rare in the industry she was moving to retain her chastity, but Luca, ironically, stayed away from that. Perhaps it was because of her hectic schedule, or just because she was so focused on achieving her dreams. It could be because she had seen too much ugly drama behind the glamour of the industry that the little country girl she had sheltered inside her was traumatized.
Xander was actually her first time, and second, and the numbers after that. She hoped he would be the last. Well, he was the last since she killed herself, regretfully.
But now, she didn't want to live in regret. She wouldn't allow herself to get fooled by a manipulator and believe his lies, only to get her heart broken.
What happened before would never happen to her. She wouldn't fall easily to anyone this time and have fun.
"Oh... lala..." Nova whistled at the topless hunk that walked in front of the lounge chairs under a parasol where she and Luca were reclining leisurely. The two feasted their eyes on the men, sizing up their pecs, their toned physique, and those delectable abs.
"That one looks like he has a lot of stamina." Nova pointed at the guy walking to the shore, carrying his surfboard, combing his damp hair back. Luca slid her sunglasses down slightly, examining the hunk from head to toe over the rims of her sunglasses before pushing it up.
"Pass," was all that Luca said and continued to look around.
"Just what sort of devil are we looking for?" Nova harrumphed, a bit disheartened by her human servant's taste. Although this was probably the best treat her human servant had given her all this time.
"Enough to make me lick my lips just at the sight of him," Luca answered. "There is no shortage of good-looking men in the entertainment circle, Nova. That guy you said had a nice body, but I don't want to get tangled with him."
"Do you know him?"
"Now? Nope." Luca shook her head. "But months later? Yes. We'll work on a short project together and I can tell you he is a piece of garbage."
"Just like that guy?" Nova stressed, pertaining to Xander.
Luca froze for a second before casting her cat a dead look. "Yes. Just like him."
"Pwe!" Nova spat out, immediately putting an X at the hunk she recommended.
"For now, let our eyes feast on our heart's content. I can do my agenda later." Luca smiled in satisfaction, inhaling the briny scent of salt. Both Luca and Nova feasted on the handsome men like predators hunting for their prey.
They had been 'relaxing' for the past two days since arriving at this beach resort far away from the city. It was one of those private resorts that only the rich could afford. Security-wise, this place was best to relax since no paparazzi were allowed to spy on their guests. Hence, many wealthy and influential people, and even celebrities, would come to this place from time to time.
It was almost a haven for people like Luca, whose peace was nonexistent in normal places because of paparazzi and fans.
"Oh, dear…" Luca breathed out, noticing the bright, clear blue sky was now turning tangerine. "I didn't notice the time."
"Hah… I feel like my eyes are full." Nova was already lying on her paws, pleased by their non-productive day of just ogling beauties. Seeing the satisfaction from her cat, Luca giggled.
At first, Luca thought Nova would scold her. However, she didn't expect her cat to cheer on her crazy plan of losing her virginity. Nova didn't even question her reason, and just simply enjoyed the benefits of feasting her eyes on these eye candies.
If Nova was a human, Luca was certain she would've put her claws on a few men before her.
"By the way, Nova." Luca moved her sunglasses over her head, brushing her little bangs along. "Can you turn to a human?"
"No, not anymore."
Her brows furrowed, observing the cat lying on the lounge chair next to hers. "What do you mean, not anymore? You mean to say you can before, but not anymore now?"
"Mhm…" came out a lazy meow, eyes still on the people walking by the shore.
"Why?"
Nova remained silent before casting Luca a sidelong glance. "It takes a lot of energy, which this granny doesn't have now."
"Is this…" Luca contemplated for a moment, glancing at the cat's back while Nova was keeping her face ahead. "Is this because you brought me back to life?"
Silence was the only answer she received from her cat. Luca's eyes softened at the thought. Her lips drew into a tight slash. She reclined against the lounge chair, covering her eyes with the sunglasses once again.
"Then I have more reason I shouldn't make the same mistake," she whispered, watching the sunset with bitterness and relief fighting to dominate her heart.
"Don't feel bad about me," Nova spoke after a full minute of silence. "Or maybe you should, and let me feast my eyes on beautiful men more instead of looking at your face all day."
Luca chuckled weakly. "Don't worry. My job has no shortage of candies."
"Hehe…"
The two of them watched the beautiful sunset in silence. Luca's mission to lose her virginity might have not been fruitful, but their eyes were surely full.
