บท 36: Chapter 36 - just a little sip of wine

"I'm so bored." Faun stretched out on the couch that he was lying on. "Is there something to eat?"

Declan just shot him a look, wondering how those two correlated.

He wondered where all the food that Faun kept inhaling went to; sure, he filled out but he hadn't increased one bit.

He still had his slender build even though had already gone through half a dozen muffins and a whole trayful of cookies, just that evening. He wasn't going to even add all that he had munched through at the picnic.

"I want to drink something." He added in a muffled voice.

Declan kept watching him as he rolled to his belly and tucked his knees under him, resting his upper body on the couch so that he could half scratch, half paw at his ears.

The first time Declan saw it, he could swear his heart stopped, the same way it was slowing down to a stop again, right then.

Faun shot to his feet, breaking Declan out of the web he had been unconsciously spinning around him. "I'm going to get something to drink, you want anything?" He asked Declan as he made his way to the kitchen.

"I'm fine." Declan mumbled, barely paying attention to the show that was playing.

They had both been lounging in the living room since they got back from the picnic, they had eaten dinner and remained on the couches, just lazing around.

It was well past 10 pm now and Faun had been eating nonstop, Declan did not mind, internally pleased even.

Faun shrugged as he continued his journey; he headed straight for the fridge, searching through the cold pristine space.

He didn't see anything that tickled his fancy so he searched further, his searching hand finding a strange bottle at the back of the soft drinks and fruit juice.

He was just about to give up and go with ice-cream; it absolutely counted as a drink of course.

But now he blinked in surprise at the find he had made. Declan was yet to put any food off limits so he was pretty sure he was allowed to drink the bottle of wine.

Now that he thought about it, he was yet to try wine; it was supposed to be sweet so he guessed it wouldn't hurt to try it now.

He managed to uncork the wine and got out his favourite cup, a plastic one that had a teddy bear in front.

He hummed to himself; yes, this one should do fine.

He didn't even stop once to consider if he was supposed to drink a lot of wine at once, it was all juice to him; he filled up the decently sized cup like he was pouring out apple juice.

It was just as delicious as he hoped, if a little tart but it soothed his craving for a drink so he corked it close and made his way back to the living room.

As soon as he stepped out of the kitchen, his head felt heavy like it was stocked full of cotton wool, and was it just him? Or did it suddenly get warmer?

His body felt like it was moving by itself but he couldn't still figure out anything wrong.

He stopped in front of Declan, rubbing his eyes which seemed a little blurry, maybe he was sleepy.

He wanted to tell Declan that it felt too warm, maybe they should go on a walk?

But he must have blacked out because the next time he blinked his eyes open, he was straddling Declan, his hands placed on his firm chest.

"I'm warm." He managed to say, his words slurring.

Declan shot upright when Faun collapsed on him, worry burning through him. It was very evident that he was drunk and for a moment he couldn't figure out why.

He wasn't the type to buy wine so how… of course, it was Isla.

It had to be the wine that Isla had gifted him after he completed his second novel.

He sat up, lifting Faun's limp body with him.

He wondered how much he had drank but considering the fact that he had probably never tasted wine before, he probably wouldn't need a lot to get flat out drunk.

He was talking about Faun here too, he probably filled his favourite teddy bear cup with the stuff and gulped it down.

It would at least explain why he was black out drunk in the point two seconds it took him to get a drink from the kitchen and come back.

Faun's eyes shot open at this, his eyes narrowed into slits like he couldn't recognise Declan. "I told you, I'm warm." He complained again, making a move to get out of his shirt but his arms seemed to be made of rubber because they just flapped around.

"It's okay, I'll turn up the air con…" Declan tried to reassure him but he was talking to himself because Faun had passed out again.

Well, wasn't this peachy?

At least Faun wasn't throwing up, yet.

Declan got to his feet with Faun in his arms, he couldn't leave him to sleep all alone, before he came back and found the hybrid drowned in his tub or lost in the woods or something.

Or far more terrifying, sleepwalking to the kitchen to drink more wine-juice.

He laid Faun on his bed, making sure to crank up the air con; if he said he was warm, he was warm and Declan would do the most to make sure he was comfortable.

When he had locked up the house and switched off the lights, he stood in front of his bed, watching Faun who was still out cold on the big bed, sprawled every which way.

Declan seriously considered taking Faun's shirt off; as long as he himself kept his own shirt on, it wouldn't be weird, right? Right.

Faun made a small sound when Declan moved him a bit to get his shirt off, noting that he did feel a little too warm.

'Alcohol doesn't poison hybrids, right?' He thought a little nervously, glancing down at Faun.
