"Mhmm..." I groaned, feeling the soft bedding underneath me and the heavy weight on top of me. What was I doing?
"Little phoenix," a soft voice called out above.
My eyes blinked open to see Dax's face lingering above.
"Can you let go?" He nervously chuckled, making me realize my limbs were attached to him still like an octopus.
Bashfully, I released him, then when he tried to climb off the bed, I clung to him again in a weird panic. I did not want to be alone. I was so tired of feeling alone.
"S-stay." Why was I stuttering? Why did my cheeks feel so hot?
His eyes widened in a panic. Was that too much to ask? I let go, feeling a bitter laugh build up in my chest.
Surprisingly, he kicked off his shoes and lay beside me on the bed, staring up at the ceiling.
Nervously, I lay beside him sideways, studying his profile in the dim light.
"Did you mean it earlier?" I eventually overcame my anxiety to ask.
Bye-bye Lex, we will miss you... not.
Eesh, I wonder just what spell our girl has poor Dax under to be such a dutiful knight?
How are we all liking the story progression? I would really love it if you share your thoughts with me, especially in the form of a review. No pressure or anything ;)
