บท 50: Forbearance

When I woke up, I found myself lying in a strange bed. Katheran's sad face appeared in my sight at once. She gently stroked my forehead and said kindly, "You finally woke up, my child!"

"I… " I felt my throat dry and hoarse. I wanted to speak but could not make a sound.

"Don't worry, child. The doctor just gave you medicine to heal your wound. There might be some side effects," Katheran said and asked the servant to bring a glass of water for me. The dry and hoarse feeling suddenly faded when the cold water passed through my throat. I wanted to sit up, but I was still in a daze. I needed Katheran's help to sit up.

"I'm sorry you had to suffer!" Katheran touched my cheek. "If I had arrived earlier, you wouldn't have been hurt!"

"I'm not having an affair. Please believe me!" I defended my innocence.
