That night Ava kept tossing and turning on the bed. She couldn't get any sleep. All she could think about was her mother.
A few hours ago, Ava had received a text on her phone, and when she read it, she saw it was from her mother, begging for her forgiveness and help.
"Ava, I am dying. Please I need your help. I am so sorry for every bad thing I had done to you in the past. Please help me."
Ava kept replaying the text in her head as she tossed it on the bed.
Where was she? Ava wondered. Did she have something to eat before going to bed? Did she even have a bed to sleep on?
Her mother didn't look well when Ava saw her in Maddie's apartment. She looked like a shadow of herself before she went deep into drugs. Her eyes were sunken and her skin so pale she could literally see her veins.
