''Did she eat gunpowder or what?"

''She has been bossing us around since she came.''

''For one, she was late for work and then she gets to be all cocky around us just because she is the department head.''

''I know right? But if Secretary Noah did not favor her that much, we would have shown her where she belongs!"

Anna, who was passing by, stopped in her tracks when she overheard Noah's name.

Her eyes narrowed slightly. She glanced at the coffee mug in her hand and approached the office room before knocking twice.

''Come in,'' Elvina raised her head only to watch Anna walking towards her. She looked back at her phone, ''You came at the right time. Let's deal with the rumors regarding—''

Elvina sucked in a shuddering breath as hot coffee splashed across the desk, scalding the back of her palm, the burn made her eyes prick as the heat burned her cold skin like acid.

''Oops… My hand slipped,'' Anna looked apologetic.
