Ava held Matthew's hand as she sat next to him. Emotions run inside her like a damn tornado. Anger and sadness. Regret and guilt. Then there was relief. Relieve that he was breathing. He was alive.

And that's the most important thing.

As if on cue, Matthew's eyelids moved. But he didn't open his eyes. Slowly, Ava reached out and put her palm on his forehead. Just as Baba told her, his fever was still there. His body was hot.

Baba said that if Matthew wasn't a Lycan, he was long dead by now.

Ava's heart felt like it is going to break. It felt like someone had stabbed a blunt knife inside her chest and had been slowly twisting it for fun. Was this just because she was her mate?
