I walked down the streets leading me to the guild, it was pretty easy to find them once I looked at a map. I wondered how they would compare to my memories.
I know that most of them right now were about 12 - 14 years old. I wondered how their guild was structured since most of their future powerhouses hadn't even grown up yet.
I reached their front door and open it. I immediately had to dodge a wooden cup flying my way and the inside of the guild was pandemonium.
They were all in a massive brawl throwing tables, chairs, and cups all over the place. I decided to wait till the commotion died down to announce my presence.
I had to wait a pretty long time though as the fight continued for a good 10 minutes long. I did get the time to notice familiar faces, however.
I could see Natsu and Grey fighting in one corner with Erza and Mirajane in the other. It was an interesting spectacle seeing magic and punches thrown so carelessly.
Once the fight seemed to die down someone seemed to notice me yelling, "Hey one of those Rune Knights came over here."
Makarov, their guild master, who had been drinking at the bar counter suddenly sat up and looked at me, "Um how long have you been there?"
I replied, "Only 10 minutes. It was honestly some of the best entertainment I've seen in years."
He quickly replied, "Yeah, it was. I'm sorry that you had to see that, it's not something that happens regularly. Just a minor scuffle that got out of hand."
Natsu quickly butted in, "What are you talking about, this happens nearly every day?"
I quickly saw Makarov grow to be 10 meters tall to clobber Natsu before returning back to his normal size. He said to me, "So what bring you here?"
I said, "Well I'm your new correspondent, so I have to catch you up on all the backlog of reprimands from the magic council."
I saw Markov deflate before I heard a voice come up from the balcony, "Who are you to reprimand Fairy Tail kid? Just because you wear that uniform doesn't mean you get to talk shit about us."
I looked up and it was Laxus, I replied, "You will find that in fact, I do get to reprimand you because I wear this uniform. These are all lawful complaints from the magic council."
I saw him look at me and said, "Really now, they send some snot-nose kid to us because the stronger and more experienced Rune Knights are afraid of being beaten up by some kids."
"It speaks to the sad state of the force if a half-blind kid is the best they can send."
I said, "You'll find that I am not just some snot-nosed kid, you brat. I could take on all the kids here and win."
I saw Laxus smile, "Wanna back up those words, just you and me one on one in the back of the guildhall. You win I stop complaining, I win you leave this guildhall immediately."
I smiled in return, "Deal."
I heard Makarov try and stop this impending fight saying, "Now calm down, we don't need any more fights, let's all just talk it out like adults."
He was drowned out by the guild however who was cheering us on to fight. So we walked to the back of the guild and squared off against each other.
Laxus asked, "How do you want to do this? To surrender / knockout, or some other pussy ass rules."
I smiled, "I'm fine with only stopping at surrender or knock out."
I saw Laxus smile, "Ok then, let the fight begin in 3, 2, 1!"
He immediately dashed at me yelling, "Lightning Charge."
He turned into lightning and rushed at me. Already prepare for such a charge, I tracked his movement with my Observation Haki and hit him with an Armament-infused fist.
He was sent flying back at my blow to his face and when the stood up he said, "Hoh looks like your not all talk, you can actually put up a decent fight."
"Don't know how you managed to hit me while I was lightning though but that just makes this fight a whole lot more interesting."
He rushed me again this time but more deliberately, throwing in directional feints in order to try and close the distance. I simply watched him with my Observation Haki.
When he realized that his feints didn't seem to work he bit the bullet and rushed in. I hit him in the chest with an Armament-infused knee but he hit me back with a lightning-infused fist.
The attack stung but didn't do any serious damage, only bruising me and tasing me. At that moment when he was recovering from my attack, however, I hit him with an Arang.
My elbow crashed into his chest but he stood his ground and yelled, "Lightning Dragon's Iron Fist!"
The blow was aimed at my head but I dodged it and hit him in the stomach with a quick, powerful upper-cut.
He was frustrated by my constant dodging and yelled out, "Heavenly Lightning Bolt!"
A massive bolt of lightning descended from the sky hitting both of us. It froze me for a split second and Laxus yelled out, "Lightning Dragon's Breakdown Fist."
The blow hit me directly on the stomach and launched me back, causing me to cough up some blood. I got up and smiled, this was a fun fight, I guess I should start getting serious.
I suddenly appeared in front of Laxus with Soru and Bo-bup and yelled out, "Wind Dragon's Crushing Fist."
A fist covered in raging wind and Armament Haki hit Laxus in the chest, I controlled my blow to not break any ribs but they would definitely feel bruised tomorrow morning.
He got up from the blow and said, "You're good, really good. What's your name?"
I smiled, "You can call me Marcus Fulbright."
He seemed to recognize the name, "The Maniac Marcus Fulbright?"
I smiled, "The one and only."
He smiled, "Heh that's why you're so strong. So why you with the Rune Knights now?"
I said, "Why else? To repent."
He said, "That so. Well, good luck with that. Lightning Dragon's Heavenward Halberd!"
In the middle of our conversation, he launched a massive spear of lightning right at me. I decided not to dodge and show off a little.
I yelled out, "Wind Dragon's Kick"
A massive dragon of wind came up to meet the lightning spear and when the 2 collided a massive explosion occurred, blasting back the nearby spectators.
I then rushed in and decided to end the fight. I decided to yell out the name of a Renewal Taekwondo move for the first time, "Renewal Taekwondo 3rd Stance Hwechook."
All 3 kicks landed perfectly on his head battering it from all sides. It did seem slightly stronger than normal but not by much. Seems like it mostly only works on magic.
It was strong enough however as Laxus slumped down to the ground and didn't rise up. That was a good fight it is rare that I can fight anyone close to my level without risking death.
He was nowhere as strong as the canon Laxus, knowing only basic Lightning and Lightning Dragon Slayer Magic but he would get there.
I stood there content before Natsu rushed at me saying, "You're a Dragon Slayer too? Does that mean you also have a dragon father?"
I smiled and said, "Nah I'm like Laxus over there, got my magic from eating a Lacrima."
He sagged in disappointment before asking, "So how did you beat him? Are you someone famous Laxus seemed to recognize you?"
Mirajane stepped in though, "You don't know the Maniac Marcus Fulbright. He was famous as one of the rising stars of the Balam Alliance till 3 months ago when he disappeared."
"I guess we now know why you were missing because you joined the Rune Knights."
I smiled, at them, "Well you could say that. It wasn't a difficult choice if I'm honest just as I told Laxus I'm doing this to repent for what I have done."
She nodded but then more of the kids jumped in asking me more questions about the Dark Guilds, how I got so strong so quickly, and all of that.
I didn't tell them much about the dark guilds as I didn't actually remember them but I did tell them about my experience learning the Rokushiki and Renewal Taekwondo, however.
It was unlikely that they would actually learn it themselves, considering that even with the best possible facilities and training only 10% of people could actually learn it.
They were fascinated by my tales however and multiple of them asked to spar against me. Natsu obviously asked but that was less of a spar than me just dodging him and pointing out his mistakes.
Grey had much the same experience. Mirajane and Erza however were more fun I had to try a little more but they still weren't much of a challenge.
They did seem much more appreciative of my advice, however. Their skill level probably allowed them to understand how valuable my help actually was.
Observation Haki and years of fighting did make it really easy to notice holes and tell them how to fix them. It was the end of the day, by the time I had finished talking with all the kids.
I headed to Makarov who was back in the guild. He was drinking and I sat next to him. He said, "Those are some special kids aren't they."
I nodded, "They are, I don't remember being half that excitable at that age."
He laughed, "Well, you've got time. Your 17 now? You have all the opportunities in the world to get excited and happy like them."
I smiled, "That's true. But I still have to reprimand you, you know."
I saw him deflate at that statement, "I had really hoped you had forgotten."
I shook my head, "Nope."
I then went on the list of all the reprimands given by the magic council for 3 hours straight. By the end of it, I saw Makarov's soul leaving his body.
I then walked out of the guild. It was a fun experience, I can see why Fairy Tail is so special to so many people.
I've chosen the path of power however, maybe later I can truly join their family. But for now, I was chasing my goal, I would be the most powerful and beloved man in all of Earth's history.
