After Arvell had successfully taken the nether crystal, the rest of their journey was reasonably uneventful.

Avoiding most of the monsters in their path, they found the stairs leading up to the next level.

So far, everything has been going smoothly, but it was this that gave Arvell an unsettling feeling.

'Did Cyprian not have any other safeguards in case their plan failed? Surely someone who went out of their way to kidnap a country's princess wouldn't be this sloppy,' Arvell pondered as he raced up the stairs.

Sensing his thoughts, August, sitting on his shoulder, tilted his head.

'What if he just gave up?'

Arvell smiled lightly and shook his head.

'No…Trying to kidnap a member of the royal family isn't something that can be done lightly. Furthermore, they created a pitfall that dropped many levels under a path we had already traversed. The queen slime certainly did not dig that large of a hole alone.'
