"God of death…" Marie mumbled.

She was just next to me, hands on my chest- she was just there- so close.

I stared at her-

At her face-

And-

At her beauty. A smile. "I don't know if it'll change anything or not but I want to try this one last thing."

Just keeping my eyes open took almost all my damn focus and willpower. So, talking was making things even worse.

Yet- I still forced myself.

This was going to be the norm, so the least I could do was try to adjust. 

Marie smiled. "You'll be fine."

Again-

Why did people have so much faith in me?

Did make me chuckle though.

Some rumble-

Noise- in the distance.

Lots of chatter.

'Though we're up this high?'

"Did something happen?" I asked the maid.

"One moment, my lord."

She went out- came back a minute later. "There's going to be an execution." 

"Execution? On who's authority?"
