An odd silence lingered in the night sky, almost as if it were an omen of what was to befall this place. An hourglass-shaped Island rounded at all edges, eight docks stretched out from two sides, like a spider. Behind the headquarters, at the center of the Island was a giant metal dome.
I looked at the soldiers standing guard at its doors. Not many here had gone inside that place. From the left, I approached the place with Eric and Ki Yeo-Jung in tow. It was still a fair distance away. The other soldiers moved here and there, some on their drills, some making rounds, and some just enjoying their free time. My eyes stopped at one visibly uncomfortable soldier and followed his movements.
The flux of soldiers in the same uniform was enough to hide a person or two from the sight. We got closer to the door. The guards looked distracted, tired. Just a bit more, and we would enter their sight. We didn't stop and continued to step forward.
