บท 34: ...along with everyone else
A supply stop before the capital was the station of Kissa. The yellowy walls of the station contrasted well with the ashen concrete floor, or whatever could be seen of it, under the veneer of swill all over the platform. Spit, blended with a diverse range of tobacco, painted the corners of the place. A unique stench permeated the air and was only amplified by the scant crowd.
Anytime now, two people clad in a long coat with face masks would enter the station. Their appearance will make it a minimum of one "Child of the Lost" in every compartment. They kept coming on the train at every stop. There were surely more people than just me who were to be killed on this train. They sent the first attacker to distract me from this.
"D- don't we need to act or something?" Artelick whispered.
"Don't bother. They should be too busy setting up shop... Ah, I better get going." said Nea. She glanced around the station and moved away from us.
"Take care," I waved her off. The Illychs looked at her retreating with an anxious gaze.
"Don't worry too much. As long as you do what we planned, there will be no issues." I reassured the Illychs.
"You are like a different person at such times, Sirius."
"Yes, you're very reliable. I still don't know if we could ever thank you."
"Think of that when we all get out of this safely."
I patted Artelick's back and nudged him forward. What the Barrs had planned was simple. We somehow lure the Illychs, who they think are I and Nea, to the waiting room. The only closed place in the station's entirety.
Once there, the Barrs will use a pre-prepared spell and spread Halothane all over the room. The anesthetic will knock them out, and a janitor will then carry the bodies back to the train. I guess they had switched a part of the train and station staff with their people. They didn't give us any signals, but a time.
We took in the vile sights of the station and stopped at the occasional stalls selling anything from magazines to marshmallows. When the clock hit 8:15, we finally moved towards the waiting room. The look on Artelick's face kept getting grimmer whereas, Jane seemed comparatively composed.
I opened the door for them and led them inside. After they settled down, I excused myself. The time was 8:20 when some smoke wafted over the station, stemming from the waiting room. They had spread the Halothane in the air.
I walked away from the lounge room and took a seat on one of the many chairs placed around the station. A wall on my left illustrated the time while the train stood majestically in front of me.
I wonder just how many people will die on that train. I could go inside and warn the people, or I could stop my plan and save many.

Two janitors walked into the waiting room with a mask on. The scent of the Halothane crept its way to my nose. Few people were at the empty station. Quite a few also moved back to the train, as it would leave soon.
8:26
The janitors left the room and dragged their carts all the way to the train. They climbed into our compartment. Their cart swayed left and right, carrying a load it wasn't meant to. Even fewer people remained at the station, as the train would set off again in a few minutes.
8:28
The janitors made their way inside the train. A swaying tuft of alba hair found itself in my peripheral vision. Nea had walked up and sat down next to me.
"I see it went well, Nea,"
"It did. I still don't know if this will work, though. Ivan."
"Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Only time will tell."
8:29
"Well, should we move now?" Nea spoke as she slowly raised herself from her seat. I grabbed her hand and pulled her back down.
"Wait, just a bit."
"Oh? Okay?"
The second hand of the clock inched forward. Slowly, it ticked. Before I could even realize it, I had a brilliant smile plastered over my face.
8:30
A wave of heat.
A burst of air.
A thundering sound.
Boom~
Flames erupted from the compartment right in front of us as a great explosion swallowed it up. The impact didn't spare anyone. Before even a single shriek could ring out, the flames reached the other compartments, each of which blew up in the same manner.
Metal, flames, blood, flesh, lives. Everything blasted off the train spectacularly as the entire train got engulfed in a massive explosion, a series of explosions, to be more precise.

Two people clad in a long coat with face masks should have entered the station. Nea would locate these two and kidnap them. She would then use the maintenance routes present at every station to go below the waiting room.
During that time, I will lead the Illychs to the waiting room. Exactly as I leave, Jane will uproot a part of the floor. Below which would be Nea. She would then have them escape the waiting room from the maintenance route and, without letting the Illychs see, replace them with the coat-clad assassins she had kidnapped. After removing their coats, of course.
The 2 janitors would come in and re-abduct the "Children of the Lost" instead of abducting the Illychs. By all means, if they could make such plans, they won't forget to use suction cuffs on their abductees. They would then take the two back to the train and before anyone could confirm anything, the train would have set off...
... Or at least that's what I have told Nea. After all, no one other than me knew of the explosives of the coat-clad assassins and the mechanisms behind it. Before anyone would even have the chance to confirm anything, they would be dead...
... along with everyone else on that train.
