I blinked to refocus my gaze.

It was blurry for a minute but everything became clearer.

Miracle.

My sweet little grandbaby was lying on a bed inside the room. She was asleep for a while and I was reluctant to wake her up but then she coughed.

I was by her side instantly.

"Good! Good! You are awake. I was just about to beat myself up for giving you drugs to knock you out. Sorry, sweetheart but I couldn't take the chance that you would cause a scene before I had a chance to introduce myself to you properly. My name is Elise. Do you know me?"

Miracle shook her head.

"I want to go home. Where is my Daddy?"

"He's not your father!"

I lost my temper but only for a second.

Seems like Emily's stench might have corrupted my grandbaby.

She's evil!

What kind of a mother lies to a child about who her father was?!
