บท 17: Chapter 17: Milkshakes

“Give ‘em some air, back up. Everyone back up.”

I blink away unconsciousness. Several Jaspers sway in my vision until they settle into one enormous mass.

“How many fingers I got?”

He holds up his hand. I count four fingers outside the ringing in my ears. I’ve got one I’d like to hold up in response.

“Easy does it.”

Jasper is helping me sit up slowly, but vertigo causes me to sway. Whatever the hell they’re feeding Chuck Norris is off the menu permanently.

Angela comes into view next, a grimace on her face. She gestures toward my face and mutters, “it could be worse.”

“How long was I out?”

“Long enough to embarrass yourself,” she replies.

Awesome.

As if this day couldn’t get any worse.

“Let’s get you off the floor. Peters, go get an ice pack. It’ll help with the swelling.”
