Dom cleared his throat as he glanced at Natasha briefly and then at the road, he could not take the grave awkward silence between them, or maybe it was only awkward for him, but regardless it was grave.
Dom couldn't take the silence, and it made him wonder because he had never thought anything of silence before, he could usually sit still alone with his own thoughts, but this time it was different, or maybe it was different because he was with Natasha.
She kept him on his toes at all times, and he kind of felt sad, maybe because he was remembering how chatty they used to be with one another in the past, and now it was the complete opposite. Their usually bubbly, cheerful, honest conversations was now replaced with nothing but cold, hard, grace, dark silence, and it made Dom feel uneasy.
To be honest in the past he had paid no attention to it, well because back then he was cold and filled with rage, but right now, it just felt like their conversations and current relationship was stuck underwater with no space to breathe at all.
"So…"said Dom as he cleared his throat and tried to start a conversation, to which Natasha shook her head.
"So you can't keep silent and just drive?" asked Natasha harshly as she looked at him, it was very dark outside and they had about forty five minutes till they arrived at their destination, and occasionally other cars would pass by them dimming they lights as they left.
"The silence is just so… chilling and I can't take it" said Dom as he did not know what worried him more, the silence or the fact that Natasha was thinking about something so seriously, her face looked so cold and calculating it made him feel weird, which was strange considering that he ought to have been used to her change of personality by now.
"Oh since when did you become the chatty type?" asked Natasha in sarcasm.
"I don't know" replied Dom.
"You didn't mind the chilling silence before" said Natasha as she scoffed.
"Well that was then, but I do now… people change" said Dom as he glanced at her.
"You are right about that, and I agree with you, people do change, and because of that change you should keep your eyes on the road before you crash into something" said Natasha rudely as Dom looked ahead, it was clear that she didn't want to talk, and he wasn't someone pushy, so he kept quiet and kept on driving.
…
"I thought you told me that the cargo had already arrived?" asked Romanoff in an irritated tone as e took out his phone from his pocket and checked the time on his watch.
"The cargo has arrived" replied a young man as he looked at Romanoff.
"Tell me why then I have been waiting and wasting my time for the past one hour!" said Romanoff in anger.
"Lower your voice Romanoff, you do not want to draw attention to us" replied the man as he whispered and checked over the many crates that he and Romanoff were hiding behind, more like he was the one hiding, Romanoff on the other hand was standing as if he owned the place.
"Like I give a damn about who comes to find me here" replied Romanoff as scoffed, he was already ticked off, he told Jeanie that he would be back in two hours and here he was aimlessly wasting his time.
"You know the orders Romanoff, this is a clean deal, no unnecessary bloodshed this time" said the man as Romanoff scoffed, obviously not caring one bit about what the man was saying.
"You get in my way, I shoot you, now tell me what is going on here?" asked Romanoff.
"Well as you can see we are waiting for the customs to leave first, once they are gone, we can go to the cargo ship and get our weapons" explained the man as he peeped over the crates to see the ship and a bunch of men talking around there.
"They leave, we go, we get our weapons, and you can leave, as simple as that" said the man as Romanoff scoffed.
"It better be" said Romanoff as he looked around, not noticing a pair of dark eyes watching his every move from a distance.
…
Natasha yawned, not out of tiredness but boredom, she hated how actually long this trip to the port was, it made her groan just thinking about how worse it would be when going back home.
And to make matters even worse, for some odd reason, the usually quiet Dom was now trying to make small talk, it made her start to regret asking him to drive her, she didn't know that he would be this annoying.
Dom on the other hand was sort of getting tired of driving, this place was way too far, it made him remember why he sent out people to represent him in the first place, and he was kind of bored as well, the silence was tiring.
"Joy told me that she spilt all the yoghurt in the afternoon" said Dom as he had an idea, the only person they could talk about with minimal arguments would be their lovely daughter Joy.
"Yeah that… and because she did that she tried to hide when I was calling her" replied Natasha as she really didn't mind that he was talking right now, she was sort of getting tired of the silence.
"She told me that she cried" said Dom.
"Because she felt guilty, and bad and scared" said Natasha.
"I honestly didn't expect her to start crying over something that little" said Natasha.
"Well she's really sensitive, especially when it comes to her emotions" said Dom.
"That is true, she must have got that from you, not me" replied Natasha as Dom laughed.
"I don't think so" replied Dom.
"Oh I beg to differ, if there's someone who isn't in check of his emotions, it would be you, you are so childish when it comes to handling emotions maturely, hence where she gets the sensitivity from" said Natasha in a tone of statement.
"Ouch, you really have been saving that one" said Dom as he laughed.
"Maybe I have" replied Natasha.
"Well then there is nothing wrong with being sensitive" replied Dom.
"You are right, but people like you rarely deal with their negative emotions maturely" said Natasha.
"But anyway, I am sure Joy will grow out of it, she doesn't need to cry over every little thing" said Natasha.
"I don't want her to grow out of it, she's cute like that, I want her to continue being my sweet, little, sensitive princess" said Dom as Natasha scoffed.
"I am sure she will grow out of it, she's getting older, she's understanding more and more, and before we know it she will be going to college" said Natasha.
"That's a bit of a stretch though, that's way too fast" said Dom.
"Well that's how life is, one day you are a young child, and the next you wake up an adult, wondering where all the time went" said Natasha.
"Yes but not in this case, we still have time before she grows up" said Dom as he smiled.
"You are right about that, yesterday she asked me if calamari was cheese??" said Natasha as she laughed.
"What??" asked Dom in disbelief as Natasha nodded.
"What made her think that??" asked Dom as he laughed and shook his head this was so funny.
"I don't know, I think it had something to do with what Prince said, and what made it even funnier was that she was genuinely confused" said Natasha as she and Dom laughed.
"She's so innocent that all I want to do is protect her and guard that innocence" said Dom as they had finally reached their destination.
"True… but you forget that the world isn't that innocent… sooner or later she will slowly find out about the harsh reality of the world, we can't shield her from the dangers, what we can do is guide her and show her the right way, that's our job as parents" said Natasha as Dom parked the car and she got out, leaving Dom to think about how right she was.
Dom quickly got out of his thoughts as he switched off the car and got the documents that he needed as he followed after Natasha.
…
"There, they are gone, we can go now" said the man as he looked at Romanoff who narrowed his eyes, there was something wrong here.
"Wait a minute, are you sure that we are alone boy?" asked Romanoff in suspicion.
"Yes we are, I assure you Romanoff" replied the man in certainty as he nodded.
"Hmm… wait a moment, wait five more minutes before you go anywhere" said Romanoff in a stern tone, there was just something not right here.
