บท 74: The tunnels

The most cutting-edge cloaking technology turned the team's carrier craft completely invisible to radar. It landed in the valley of a canyon close to the mining site. 

Ilya ignored the message that pinged on the HUD of his visor. It was from the Command centre. 

None of them spoke because they knew their roles and where they had to go. 

Archer led the group to the entrance of a tunnel that went straight down in a vertical shaft. Peering in, Ji-ho couldn't tell how deep it went because of the utter lack of light inside. But from the data she had seen, this shaft was at least three hundred feet deep. 

Lorentz was first to lower himself inside. He turned on his night vision and began to descend via the metal ladder that was drilled into place. 

Ilya motioned for Ji-ho to move when they were the only two left on the surface. One careful step at a time, she went down and turned on her night vision.
