Maria drove silently from the house at about 7 am on the dot. It was the only time she knew she could successfully sneak out of the house without being monitored by Marco who she had made sure was stuck in Ursula's room.
She felt bad for using his affections for Ursula as a device for her escape but it was the only thing she thought would work. As she drove, she wondered about life in general, especially that of her family.
Slowly, her thoughts traveled to the awkward dinner. After she and Marco had left the premises, Marco had insisted that it would only be on his death bed that he would allow her to agree to me Ludovia alone. She had seen reasons with him until just yesterday, everything began to go south.
Alcatara called her in the dead of the night to tell her he was on the run. Before she could speak up, she heard muffled sounds, and then everywhere grew silent.
