Ya Ren began to feel cold, but whether it was due to the blood loss, oxygen deprivation, or Sun Jingwei's eyes, devoid of any compassion as he stared down at him without mercy like an angry god, it was hard to tell. 

"Which eye do you want to lose?" Jingwei asked, as though he was inquiring about his favourite dishes. "Choose before I choose for you."

Ya Ren began shaking his head furiously. "No - no I -" 

"Jingwei, you don't have anything to take his eye out with," Xue Ning reminded him. It seemed like Jingwei's mind was consumed by thoughts of revenge, and he would not rest until he executed his plans. "Leave his eyeballs alone."

Xue Ning didn't doubt his ability, but she knew that he would be horrified at himself the moment the fog of rage and vengeance wore off. She didn't want him to do something he would regret in the heat of the moment. 

So she had to snap him out of it.
