100% WALL OF DEATH: Never should be crossed / Chapter 49: Where am I?

บท 49: Where am I?

In the wooded solitude, Zia found herself lost in a labyrinth of thoughts and questions that refused to relent. A week had slipped by since her enigmatic encounter with Eren, a secret she held close, sharing with no one. Each passing day carried a weight of contemplation as she delved into the depths of her conflicting emotions.

The revelations about her father's activities unraveled slowly through Will and Charles's investigation, a puzzle of his clandestine work taking shape in her mind. Yet, amidst these revelations, thoughts of her mother's possible resurrection lingered like an elusive mist.

"Why does she need her father's help if she has the book?" The question echoed incessantly in her mind, a thread of skepticism weaving through her thoughts. The mysterious nature of the book, its significance in unlocking secrets, and the potential to restore life to her mother posed an intricate web of uncertainty.

As she wandered through the woods, pondering the consequences of obtaining the book, myriad possibilities and dangers loomed large in her mind. Eren's intentions remained shrouded in ambiguity, raising unsettling doubts within her.

"Can he open the book if he gets it?" Her mind raced with a barrage of questions, grappling with the potential outcomes of Eren gaining possession of the powerful tome. The knowledge that only a rightful heir could unlock its secrets lingered, a glimmer of hope amidst her uncertainty.

Amidst her internal turmoil, a familiar voice sliced through her reverie. Eren's presence emerged once more, disrupting her contemplations.

"What did you think about bringing your mom back to life?" His question hung in the air, laden with an eerie weight, beckoning Zia to navigate the treacherous depths of her desires and fears surrounding the unthinkable prospect he had proposed.

Amidst the quiet confines of the school, an unsettling encounter unfolded, shrouded in secrecy and unresolved truths.

Zia's gaze flickered towards the chairman's office, a silent query echoing in her mind. "[How could Will be unaware of his presence? And could he be manipulating me using my mom?]" A surge of questions flooded her thoughts, leaving her to grapple with unsettling possibilities.

"I know what exactly you are thinking," Eren's voice pierced through her contemplations, a subtle chuckle accompanying his words. His enigmatic assurance hinted at a depth of understanding beyond her grasp.

"No one will know that I am here because I used a spell to make my existence disappear," his revelation sent a shiver down Zia's spine, unraveling the mystery behind his inexplicable appearances.

Seeking clarity amidst the chaos, Zia retrieved her book, inscribing her queries in silent script. "What's your purpose?"

"Your mom is my purpose," he asserted, but Zia vehemently disagreed, her script marking his claim as false. "Wrong."

"How can you think that what I'm saying is wrong?" His retort held a note of wounded pride, countered by Zia's accusation – "Because you abandoned us."

Tension crackled in the air as Eren denied her accusation, deflecting blame towards Althea. "Isn't that right, Althea?" he challenged, summoning forth the unchanged, lifeless figure of Althea.

"Your mom can be healed as fast as you get that book," Eren's words hung between hope and suspicion, entangling Zia's emotions in a web of manipulation and doubt.

Frustration surged within her, yet within the turmoil, Zia made a resolute decision, her determined words etched onto the pages of her book. "I will bring the book, but I am not giving it to you unless I know for sure that you can bring my mom back," she conveyed, her resolve firm and unyielding in the face of uncertainty.

"Alright," Eren's serene demeanor masked an undercurrent of anticipation as he cast a spell, rendering Zia unseen as she cautiously made her way to the library.

Each step felt heavier than the last as Zia wrestled with the impending betrayal. The weight of her actions loomed over her, yet an irresistible force compelled her onwards. With a deep breath, she braced herself and crossed the library's threshold.

The room enveloped her in its ancient atmosphere, the enigmatic book resting provocatively within reach. "[I am sorry,]" her inner apology echoed as she reached for the book, her actions betraying the trust of those closest to her.

Gripping the book, a wave of uncertainty washed over her. "[Does this tome truly hold the power to revive Mom?]" Her mind churned with doubt, grappling with the enormity of the situation.

Suddenly, a blinding burst of light erupted, engulfing the entire school in confusion and turmoil. The inexplicable event stunned everyone present. Eren, recognizing the unfolding chaos, understood Zia's pivotal role in the unfolding drama.

The resonance of the book's power shattered Zia's emerald necklace, its reverberating sound echoing through the corridors. An overwhelming surge of unleashed energy emanated, filling the surroundings with an intense aura.

"Zia!" Will's urgent call pierced through the commotion as he hurried towards the epicenter of the disturbance. But before anyone could react, Zia was whisked away in the dazzling whirl of light, disappearing in an instant.

"No, something is amiss," Eren's thoughts raced as he sprinted into the school, his concern escalating at the unexpected turn of events.

Will rushed into the room, his eyes fixated on Zia's shattered necklace lying on the ground. His hand instinctively reached for the fragmented pieces, a surge of concern flooding his features. Simultaneously, teachers and faculty members flocked to the scene, their collective confusion palpable.

Eren's arrival didn't go unnoticed, drawing a wave of animosity from Will, his anger radiating like a tempest. Gripping Eren's collar, Will's voice trembled with an undercurrent of fury. "Are you the one who did this?" His accusatory tone reverberated through the tense air, demanding answers.

Silence hung heavily as Eren's gaze met Will's intense glare, refusing to yield an immediate response. Anger bubbled within Will, compelling him to press harder for an explanation. "Tell me what happened?" His demand echoed with a ferocity that startled even the teachers present.

"She opened the book," Eren finally disclosed, stunning everyone within earshot. Charles, caught in the whirlwind of revelations, sought clarification. "So, she is the right heir?"

Anxiety knotted within Will, his grip on Eren's collar tightening as he sought information. "Where is she?" The urgency in his voice bore a sense of desperation, fueling his determination.

Eren's next words struck like lightning, shattering the already tense atmosphere. "She is on the other side of the Wall."

"What?" The exclamation rippled through the gathering, a revelation that shook the very foundation of their understanding. The mention of the Wall of Death cast a shadow of dread and uncertainty, leaving everyone stunned and apprehensive about Zia's fate.

As Zia slowly regained consciousness, she found herself lying on the ground, disoriented in a thick shroud of fog. Rising unsteadily to her feet, she discovered the chilling sensation of barefoot on an unsettlingly slimy ground. Nauseating vapors assaulted her senses, prompting her to cover her nose with trembling hands.

"[Where am I?]" Her inner query echoed into the dense obscurity that enveloped her. Faint voices murmured in the distance, their language indecipherable amidst the impenetrable darkness.

Straining her eyes, time gradually allowed them to adjust, offering faint glimpses of the desolate surroundings. The air felt clammy against her skin, setting off tremors coursing through her.

The surreal landscape took on an ominous tone, its otherworldly nature unsettling Zia's core. She perceived an unusual, greasy texture underfoot, a disconcerting sensation further amplifying her disquiet.

And then, emerging through the thick haze, she beheld the formidable sight—the Wall of Death. It loomed ominously before her, a foreboding presence in the otherwise desolate expanse. Driven by an inexplicable compulsion, she reached out tentatively, her fingertips making contact with the enigmatic barrier.

As Zia processed her surroundings, a chilling revelation pierced her thoughts. "[Am I on the other side?]" The sheer dread of this recognition sent shivers coursing down her spine, causing her to tremble involuntarily.

The wall before her, diverging from her previous perception, bore an unsettling dissimilarity. This unfamiliarity heightened her growing apprehension, signaling that she might indeed have traversed to the other side.

Fear encroached upon her, an intangible force tightening its grip, rendering her quivering in the midst of the surreal and foreboding realm.

In the secluded, fog-shrouded estate, an imposing mansion stood, its sprawling grandeur veiled by the swirling mist that enveloped the area.

At the pinnacle of this enigmatic abode, a figure reclined in a room blanketed in shadow, engrossed in the spellbinding narrative of a book. His formidable stature emanated an aura of unsettling command, distinguished by elongated, sinuous nails that seemed to accentuate his presence. Dark, billowing tresses of jet-black hair swayed loosely around his countenance, framing features that echoed an otherworldly essence—a pair of elongated fangs hinted at his nature, while his eyes, a deep, entrancing crimson reminiscent of a bat's gaze, remained transfixed on the written words. A faint scar traced the edge of his forehead, a subtle embellishment upon his formidable appearance.

Draped in garments of shadow—a black shirt layered with a matching vest and trousers—the figure bore the unmistakable insignia of a vampire, an entity deeply attuned to the mysteries that enshrouded him.

As an enigmatic power surged from the vicinity of the Wall of Death, his focus abruptly shifted from the pages before him. "Someone is here," he pondered, swiftly closing the book. With an elegant yet swift snap of his fingers, he dispersed from his chamber, dissolving into nothingness before reappearing, in an instant, near the foreboding Wall.

"Someone is here," he thought shutting the book and snapping his fingers together, which made him disappear from there and  he appeared near the wall of death.
