I sucked in a breath of stale air while hot blood rushed all around us and soaked my clothes to the bone. Getting rid of them would make me faster, maybe fast enough to win. I had no idea where its vital organs were, but I could feel the opening of one of its arteries. I hadn't cut it yet, but I knew it had to be a major artery because of its size. Unfortunately, arteries led away from the heart. I could feel the mushed-up veins around us wiggle, and a few put themselves back together. If I gave this thing enough time, it would recover.
Searching through the light of my phone, I accidentally snapped a picture, and suddenly my SP started increasing. Elorael happened to be in the shot, and suddenly the mystery solved itself when I saw the usernames. If Alucard109 wasn't a dead giveaway, Dracula69 and DVempyrLesat made it obvious and were either vamp goths or actual vampires. I pushed Elorael against one of the bleeding manhole-sized veins and took a picture for good measure.
As the SP poured in, I formed the beginnings of a plan. Veins, unlike arteries, went to the heart. "Follow behind me I'm going in," I said and stuffed myself in the constricting, near airless vein leading into the kaiju's heart.
I crawled faster than any man had before through the tight tube even as it constricted and pulled us. Blood filled the vein behind us and pushed us hard as the heart pumped.
"Take a breath," I yelled as a pressurized torrent of blood pushed us into the heart. Then, finally, I ripped, tore, and sliced open the massive heart. Air had already filled the massive organ like a balloon; all it took was a slice to end the organ, but even as the heart we were in stopped beating, I heard another rhythmic boom. The beast fell at that moment and rolled while my knife cut into the hard tissues of the heart. Still, the rhythmic boom couldn't be hidden, and I crawled using the thick musculature of the heart to keep Elorael and me from falling.
It was the pills that did it. There was no way I could have held on as long as I had before or held my breath long enough to make a difference. Even as I fell, my muscles tore regenerated slowly but surely. Time ticked away as I stabbed and crawled towards the secondary heart.
We crawled out of a gaping wound in the heart, and I turned on my phone's flashlight to have a look around. Sure enough, a heart-shaped like a soda can swelled and squeezed. I turned my light to shine it down on a grey, brain-looking mass of flesh covered in spindly white nerves and the kaiju's spine.
The monster suddenly rolled over, and I threw the tear aiming myself like a missile. I yelled and punched a hole through the hard muscle of the secondary heart. Blood bubbled up, and the monster convulsed as I punched hole after hole into its heart with my fist and knife. Finally, the monster rolled and picked itself up. I held my breath, ran, and jumped over the edge.
