Under the dim streetlight, his figure seemed somewhat eerie.
Across the road, she could sense his low-pressure air.
"Genna, let's get a divorce." Lucas whispered, his golden eyes shining coldly under the flickering streetlights.
Charlotte glanced at him, anger hidden between her brows, and didn't reply to his words, taking her bag and walking across the street.
Henry Russell was indeed angry. Charlotte smiled and extended her hand to hold his, her delicate and boneless little hand gripping his tightly.
"When are we leaving?"
Her coquettish tone, coupled with her actions, could soften even the hardest heart.
Henry's eyes softened a lot, and he patted her on the head, "Don't talk to strangers casually."
His tone was like that of a child in his family being scolded.
Charlotte nodded obediently.
Stuffing her into the car, Henry took Charlotte home.
After Charlotte took a shower and came out, she saw her phone vibrating and picked it up casually.
"It's me." Two words came from the other end of the line.
Charlotte's face turned cold, "My attitude tonight was quite obvious, Mr. Carter. What else do you want to say?"
"What I said wasn't a joke. I know what will happen in the future."
"Oh? Then tell me, when will humanity be wiped out? When will robots dominate the world?"
Lucas choked.
"Mr. Carter, I respect you for helping me last time, but don't go too far. What my marriage is like has nothing to do with you."
Perhaps Lucas has some special interests. Why does he want them to divorce?
Dealing with various women daily was enough for her, she didn't want to deal with men too.
"You don't believe what I said?"
The gentle voice carried a hint of sadness.
"Give me a reason."
Hearing the silence at the other end, Charlotte was about to hang up. Unexpectedly, the person on the other end suddenly spoke.
"In a few days, Chairman Lin of the Lin Corporation will die."
Charlotte laughed, "The killer isn't you, is it?"
Chairman Lin was only in his sixties, healthy and vigorous, wearing a suit and leather shoes every day. A few days ago, she saw him attending a cocktail party with a glowing face. Charlotte would never believe that he was going to die.
Who knew that the person on the other end laughed, "You'll know that I didn't lie to you."
"Also, don't go to Actor Adam Maple's party in a few days."
After saying that, the call ended.
"Crazy!"
Charlotte threw her phone on the sofa, feeling that he had gone mad.
The next morning, she was still in her sleep and felt Henry Russell getting up.
Glancing at the clock, it was already past eight in the morning. The night before, she returned late after a shoot and Henry came back in the wee hours, so both of them were catching up on sleep. She wondered what he was up to this early.
"Chairman Lin of the Lin Corporation has passed away. I have to go there. You can sleep a little longer."
Henry kissed her on the forehead.
"Tonight, tell Vanessa to try to cancel the evening's schedule as much as possible. No matter how busy work is, you can't neglect sleep."
"I'll leave first and ask Auntie to prepare some soup for you to drink when you wake up."
He said too much, and Charlotte was a little impatient, waving her hand to signal that she knew and urging him to hurry up and go.
Henry kissed her on the forehead again before leaving.
Hearing the sound of the door closing, Charlotte snuggled in the blanket, closing her eyes contentedly.
Two seconds later, she suddenly opened her eyes.
The Chairman of the Lin Corporation was dead?
Suddenly, Lucas's words came to her mind. Could this be too much of a coincidence?
Her phone rang, and in the quiet room, it sounded somewhat creepy.
Seeing the familiar number, she calmly answered, "Hello?"
"Believe me now?"
One incident alone doesn't prove anything," Charlotte said calmly.
He chuckled. "Then let me tell you a few more things. There's speculation in the media about an illicit relationship between the late Chairman Lin and actress Svetlana Anderson. To protect his father's reputation, his son spends a fortune to buy a piece of news."
He paused and continued, "Ava Martin is having an affair."
Impossible!"
Although Ava Martin isn't a top-tier celebrity, she's still a popular star. For five years, she and her husband appeared to be a loving couple, attending many reality shows together and displaying their affection, feeding viewers plenty of "dog food."
"Let's wait and see."
After hanging up, she dialed Vanessa's number.
It seemed that Vanessa was surprised by her early morning call. Charlotte asked directly, "Vanessa, are you available right now?"
On the other end of the line, she heard Vanessa say to wait a moment. Charlotte wasn't in a hurry. After a while, Vanessa came on the line again.
Vanessa, I need you to help me with two things. First, is Ava Martin really having an affair? And second, is Lily McKenzie planning to return to the country?"
Vanessa hesitated, she could understand the second request, but what did Martin's affair have to do with her?
Was Martin having an affair with Henry?
Was Henry attracted to married women now?
"I want to know the news as soon as possible," Charlotte emphasized.
As a well-known talent agent in the industry for over a decade, Vanessa had many channels to get news. If it was true, she would surely hear about it.
Soon enough, Vanessa called back, "Ava Martin has indeed had an affair, but not with Henry Russell. It's with a male model. The reporter is still looking for solid evidence, but it should be exposed in the next few days. Lily McKenzie is indeed planning to return to work in China, but it won't be in the next few months, at least half a year."
Charlotte hung up the phone with mixed feelings.
It was too much of a coincidence. Just a few days ago, Adam Maple had invited her to a party.
Charlotte declined the invitation.
The next day, she heard that someone had died at the party due to a drug overdose. All the attendees were investigated, and their images and work were affected.
It was too coincidental unless he orchestrated everything.
In the afternoon, while she was shooting an advertisement in a coffee shop, a man approached her during her break and said that a gentleman would like to meet her.
As it was only upstairs, Charlotte informed her assistant and went up.
Seeing the person in the private room, she turned around and wanted to leave.
Come on, Charlotte, don't run!" The man's unique warm voice came from behind.
Charlotte frowned and turned around, "Mr. Carter, what a coincidence."
"Not a coincidence, I'm here specifically for you."
These words became fashionable lately, and Charlotte found them somewhat greasy.
Lucas waved his hand to dismiss everyone and invited Charlotte to sit down.
"I guess you have checked everything now. Do you believe me now?"
"Believe you? After the establishment of the country, no fairy was allowed to become a spirit. You say you know the future, who would believe it!"
Charlotte fiddled with the cup in her hand, her impatience clearly showing on her face.
"I know it's hard to believe, but by sitting down, you show that you do believe."
Charlotte didn't say a word; she did believe a little. If he didn't have the ability to know the future, but could know someone's life and death and the secrets of the entertainment circle, it would be too terrifying.
So she stayed to know her enemy better.
"I was reborn," Lucas said, looking at her.
Charlotte thought he must have read too many novels and was having hallucinations.
