Chapter 97: Are you stupid?

It was the worst feeling she had ever felt, even worse than Landon in high school. Asher had hurt her more than Landon.

She turned to Nelly who was watching her curiously and she murmured.

"I am a good man in a storm" 

"Yes, you are. Don't forget the part where you are going to change the world someday" Nelly reminded her and walked out.

Pepper realized that she had to find a way to be happy despite Asher. She had done a good thing and she deserves to enjoy it but Pepper knew it was easier said than done.

She even practiced smiling in front of the mirror several times in preparation for when she told June and her grandparents but she always ended up looking like she was trying to pee.

For most of the day, Pepper kept her head down and focused on the job in front of her.

It was almost afternoon when her phone rang and she picked up.

"Is this Pepper Hart?"
