บท 40: Chapter 39: Night
During the time that Maria and her friends survive in the Wolf island, they have encountered a lot of night creatures. Now, they have to face one of the worst types of this region. It's the Night Wolves.
Night Wolves live by absorbing silvery light from the moon and they rarely hunt down prey. However, today is a full moon day. A day that these creatures have to eat meat in order to evolve to the next level. Night Wolves have a high intelligence, almost the highest one in all of the monster races. That's why they are extremely good at learning and using magic. Some people think that Night Wolves use the element of darkness, well because it's "Night" right? But no, they use the element of Fairy or Celestial to be exact.
Night Wolves have smooth, soft, light grayish fur. Their claws are cleaned and shiny, because they don't scratch that much. And their eyes have multiple colors depending on the level of themselves or the form of magic spell they are casting. Night Wolves are the protectors of the jungle, also the worst nightmare of the starry sky.
"Hey wake up". Esserine smacked Maria's face. "I sense something big is coming".
"What?". Maria said with a sleepy tone. "I'm kissing Gabri, leave me alone".
"No, stop dreaming about inappropriate things!". Esserine kicked Maria off her bed. "Prepare yourself, I have to tell Adelphia".
"Ouch". Maria's face kissed the floor. "That was so rude, why are you becoming so impolite day by day?!".
"Adelphia!". The moment when Esserine opened the door, she already saw that Adelphia and Phoebe were there. "You sensed something too?".
"Not really, but Phoebe told me that her defense system was ringing with yellow color". Adelphia pointed her finger at Phoebe.
"Wait a minute, almost done". Phoebe was typing quickly on her keyboard.
"What are you guys doing here at this hour?". Maria slowly walked out.
"Oh, we're just making sure that monsters won't kill all of us". Adelphia was sitting on a couch looking at Phoebe's screen.
"Guys! The Alpha Night Wolf is near us!". Kayden rushed out of his room. "My mother just gave me a prophetic dream".
"Right, that's the thing that I was going to say". Phoebe confirmed. "I'm done analyzing the area around us".
"So, let me show you our situation". Phoebe turned on the projector that was connected to her laptop. "Currently, a bunch of Night Wolves are sieging us".
In the projecting screen, it shows many red dots around a square looking building. Inside of the building are 6 green dots. And outside, deep in the red dot swarm, there is a purple dot.
"So the purple dot must be the Alpha Night Wolf right?". Adelphia assumed concernedly.
"Yes, I don't know what they're doing, but the hostile bar is not even 50%". Phoebe indicated the chart. "Seems like they are just examinizing us".
"Y'all just said Night Wolves right?". Esserine questioned, her face seemed seriously terrible.
"Uhm uhm". Adelphia nodded.
"Today is full moon, they are choosing something to sacrifice for the Deity of the Moon". Esserine spoke firmly, she knew that everyone is in danger now.
"No need to worry, I got a taser". Lucas from the room walked out. "My dad gave it to me before we took off".
"Lmao, I wish you luck". Here we go again, Maria made fun of someone again. "Just don't die before you could stick that electric thing to the wolf's body".
"Night Wolves are ranged monsters, they attack enemies from a long distance". Adelphia explained, she didn't want her classmate to die because of having a low IQ. "So put that away before you could shock any of us".
"Guys, I think we should attack these creatures first". Phoebe suggested an idea. "If they are dominant, then they could destroy our base and kill all of us too".
"What's your plan?". Esserine didn't want to die stupidly.
"I love this idea". Everyone literally can see the flaming eyes of Maria when she says it. "Whatever plan, I'm in!".
"Okay, let's form a team with positions just like what our Prestige Professor taught us". Phoebe clicked on the lesson. "Watch this!".
The projecting screen shows the video of Mrs. Burggraf assigns positions and giving advice for each of them.
"Right, let's do it". Adelphia exclaimed.
"Can we beat these Night Wolves?!". Maria shouted out fearlessly. "YES, WE CAN!!!".
"Okay, me and Adelphia will come out first, and then the following is Kayden to create a rainy environment". Esserine made an interesting plan. "Because Night Wolves mainly get their energy and power through the moon, if we cover the sky with dark clouds, it means that we have a higher chance to win".
"Sound cool". Adelphia liked this plan too.
"I am ready!". Kayden dragged his watery instrument out of thin air.
"Shadow emerges from the below, wrap around me and make it true!". Esserine transformed herself. She is prepared for the battle.
"3 2 1". Maria and Phoebe counted together. "START!!".
Why do they leave Lucas back in the base when he's literally the defender? Because Maria and Phoebe are squishy. They could be extinguished easily if they're not well protected by others.
Kayden calls down the rain, Esserine and Adelphia bolts out of the base.
"Black Hole Bomb!". Esserine took control of the battlefield by throwing out a special bomb to pull most Night Wolves into one space.
"Nice". Adelphia complimented, then she channeled her ability. "Gravitational Tornado!". A huge energetic whirl crashed down to the area of the Black Hole Bomb. It wiped out plenty of Night Wolves.
Witnessing their friends get killed by humans, other Night Wolves cannot stand out. They harness the moonlight and release it as a powerful attack. "Moonbeam". Nevertheless, because the moonlight is hidden by the dark clouds, the attack is much weaker than usual.
"This is the payback!". Esserine brought out her weapon 'Sable' and fired. "Bulletstorm!". Many Night Wolves got critical wounds, some of them even died.
"Gravitational Force". Adelphia lifted a group of Night Wolves up and smashed them down on the ground. "This is what you have to pay for trying to hurt my loved ones". The white fur now had stained blood on it.
"Heyah". Kayden wielded his watery sword around, he slashed each one. It's not so effective to eliminate, however, at least that he can save his energy for later. "Surging Blade!".
From afar, there are a pair of eyes observing them killing Night Wolves. That's the Alpha Night Wolf, the master of moonlight.
"Seems like I have to do it by myself". The Alpha Night Wolf thought. It jumped off the hill and speedily hastened toward the designated area.
The Alpha Night Wolf is tremendous, it is 10 times bigger than a normal Night Wolf. And also stronger and wiser.
"After this, you have to reward me with the item that we talked about". The Alpha Night Wolf whispered into the night.
"Sure". A woman's voice agreed. "Kill them all, except the girl with shadow ability". Then she faded away.
"Roger". The Alpha Night Wolf sped up.
