I attempted to overlook the scrutinizing gazes that where given by passing by pious devotee's, and priests. I have never been related with a man in my 24 years of living.
Surely there would be rumors about the famous saint, and and unknown handsome man in relationship by the morning.
I had tried pulling away my hand from his elbow when he seemed to not pay attention, but he was always on guard, putting his long delicate fingers on mine, and his signature smile.
I frowned.
"where are we headed?" I inquired. There was no answer for a while.
"My carriage." I had sensed a half lie. But didn't bother to question him. He would only give his signature smile, and beat around the bush.
I did not know why I was following him like an obedient little puppy, so I stopped, apparently getting back to my senses.
"wife, is there something wrong?" he smiled.
"Tell me where we are really going..." I didn't know what to call him. Saying the name "Lucifer" out loud would attract unwanted attention.
He put a hand on his chin looking up as if he was thinking. He hummed. "My home." He then said holding his hand out for me to take.
My frown deepend
"Wife, you need to stop frowning. You will get wrinkles before you even have children."
"I do not plan to bed you." I ignored his previous statement.
His smile only became more devilish
"Are we not married?"
"Keep dreaming." I snarled folding my arms over my cross.
There was a pregnant silence.
My legs was then lifted off the ground. One arm holding me up, although I felt secure.
"What do you think you're doing..!?" I hollered, but not loud enough for nearby onlookers to hear
"Holding my precious wife in my arms" He simply answered back which sounded like a question
"You..!"
"Me?" He grinned glancing at me briefly.
"You Devil!" I squirmed in his tight yet gentle embrace.
He let out a short laugh.
"You got that right, Wife."
I grimaced shaking in resentment. I must not get angry..not in front of him at least..!
I took in a deep breath. Closing my eyes.
"Oh, wife have you calmed down?" his gaze was still placed in front of him.
"Let me down.." Surprisingly, he had done what I asked. I brushed off the invisible dust of my garment, putting my hood over my head.
I had walked ahead of him.
"wife, You do not know where the carriage is" he called out
My face filled red in humiliation as I went to gaze toward the sky, trusting he would not see.
"You are silly, wife. Come." He ushered me to a carriage near the entrance of the church. The two guards had bowed a 75 degree when spotting me. I nodded to them.
The carriage was very unique. Usually some would be decorated as if a princess was inside, but it was pure black, with only windows.
Albeit the ponies was extremely excellent. They where unadulterated dark. I headed within the carriage. Overlooking his outstretched hand.
I was closing my eyes with my eyes crossed for half of the time I was in the carriage. I could feel his gaze piercing through my eyelids, my eyebrow twitching into a frown
"Are you going to stare at me all day?" I asked, eyes still closed.
"Forgive me, wife. You are very lovely."
I opened one eye to look at him. It was the look of a lovesick fool. It was something I didn't really get shy at since I had heard it almost everyday.
"Hmm yes, I am aware"
I groaned. For what reason did I by any chance follow him here. All things considered, it is past the time to turn around now, I suppose.
We had arrived, It was a large mansion, the outsides tainted in black. Very different from the rest. What is the "devil" doing on earth having such a good home?
Instead of the footman, ...Lucifer.. had helped me down. I still hadn't accepted his hand. I straightened the crumples in my habit.
"Let us enter shall we?" I asked, heading to the front of the estate.
"we shall."
---
I had noticed along the way heading to the drawing room, that most maids and butlers here looked dreary and judgmental. Always holding depressive looks on her faces.
"So, Arya would you like an extravagant wedding, a small one, or even go to your hometown-"
"I had told you already, I am not getting married with you. It is a sin against the Lord... How could I ever-"
"Arya" my name had rolled of his tongue ever so pleasantly as if he was made to say it. My heart was beating fast.
His rubied eyes staring down at me. Just one look for sure could put one into a deep slumber.
He leaned over holding my hands gently in his, his sharp nails slightly poking my skin, but not to much for discomfort.
"My dear wife, I warn you, I am a jealous husband. I do not want to hear another man, or woman for that matter's name coming out of your mouth, or I will knock them dead"
He stared at me a while, entangling his fingers in my hair twisting it around his pointing finger. He then continued to speak.
"Arya, my sweet, I will kiss the very ground you step on, but I am not merciful to those who speak of.. "God".."
The distance between our faces was close. He brought my hand up to his lips placing a gentle kiss on the back of it.
I was shivering uncontrollably, and i'm sure he could feel it in my hand. He let go, by the time a maid had come in setting down tea.
He had not even acknowledged the woman, only keeping his eyes on me. It had caused me to shuffle in my seat uncomfortably.
I was not in the mood for tea at all. I cleared my throat, changing the subject.
"..Lucifer, what shall I call you? it is rather uncomfortable saying that name out loud so casually."
He had thought for a moment.
"Achlys..Yes, Achlys would do.."
