บท 24: Chapter 23
It was sunset and the sun was slowly going down. The yellow and orange hues could be seen in the sky. In the village, children were running back to their respective house after spend time with their friends outside, some parents went to pick up their children at the park and adults either went home for the day or stay outside hanging out with their fellow peers at the bar or restaurant.
In the middle of the village, one could see a boy walking alone on the road but no one knows where he was heading to. The said boy was Yoshi who was thinking about something without knowing where he was going. He was just came back from the park after playing with Naruto and bid him goodbye and decided to go home. At least, that's what he's planning to at first.
Few minutes of walking aimlessly, Yoshi woke up from his reverie and looked up to check his surrounding. The place he ended up to was pretty far away from his house, so to say. It was near the Hokage's building and one could see the Hokage Rock behind the building. Yoshi never once to look at the Hokage's stone faces even though he has passed this place who knows how many times with Naruto. He eyed each one of the Hokage's stone faces. Once his eyes laid on the face of the fourth Hokage, suddenly Yoshi felt something in him that made him wanted to cry. Washed the feeling away, Yoshi got himself together and held his tear from coming out unwillingly.
After contemplating for awhile, Yoshi decided to went up the Hokage Rock even though the day has turn dark. Since Yoshi already mastered the tree climbing practice, so it was easy for him to climb up to the top of the Hokage Rock without using the staircase that was been prepared because lazy. Once he arrived at the top, he was amazed with the beautiful view of the Konoha Village, he has seen this kind of view so many times from different perspectives before but realised that seeing them with your own eyes was much better.
YOSHI'S POV
I sat cross legged on the dirt ground with my eyes still locked on the village. Tons of villagers could be seen from up here, joking and laughing with each other.
'I wonder what made them laugh so hard like that? Is going out together with your friends can make you laugh?' I asked myself while frowning.
While I was immersed in my thoughts, suddenly I felt someone standing behind me. And I don't need to guess who that was.
'Who else might you 'coincidentally' meet here other than him-'
"Ah, Yoshi I didn't expect to see you here. Looks like fate want us to meet each other tonight."
'- the third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen. What a company. And what do you mean fate? Aren't you always come here, so the chance for someone to meet you here is close to 90%.' monologued Yoshi to himself.
Instead of greeting the Hokage, I kept watching the village while Hiruzen was already stood beside me. After a few seconds of silence, Hiruzen open his mouth trying to start a conversation by asking me a question.
"Say, Yoshi. What do you think about this village?"
'Ah~ classic. What did I think about this village? I don't know. Should I copy some answer from those fanfics that I've read?'
"I don't know what I think about this village since I didn't get attached to the village yet. But I do already have someone I probably want to protect." I said without leaving my eyes from the village.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Hiruzen was trying to say something but I quickly cut him off.
"But even though I'm not attached to this village, there was someone I admired so much. He is the fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato."
"Oho, is that so. May I know why?"
"I heard about one of his tales. The one where he sacrificed not just himself but his family too just to save thousands of life. He sealed half of the kyuubi's chakra inside of him and the other half inside of his own son. While his wife dying protected the child but as long as she a jinchūriki, she knew her life was in risk. That's why the fourth Hokage just let it happened. And now, they both gone but his son still here, live his life with a nine tails beast inside of him. All this thing happened 'cause he wanted to save a village." I explained to Hiruzen who was watching me intently.
There was a few seconds of silence after I've done with my speech. I darted my eyes slightly to the side where the Hokage stood to see his reaction. He has a shocked expression on his face, his eyes were wide and his mouth gaped a little. But it's all just for a second before his face went back to a calm one.
'Hah, never expect that kind of answer to come out of a child's mouth, eh?'
"You meant to say that the fourth Hokage let his wife sacrificed herself and made his son sacrificed himself to suppressed the kyuubi's chakra. Is that so?"
"Well, you could say that. If you understand, then that's it. If you don't, not my problem. Short to say, he sacrificed his whole family to save a village." I said while rosed up from my sitting and started walking away.
'While I, my pathetic self can't even sacrificed one person to save a life. And what else, that one person is a bad guy.' I thought while sighing a little.
"Well, I better go home now, Lord Hokage. It's a little nice talking to you even though what I wanted is to be alone. Good luck with your work!" I said without facing the Hokage and continued on my way down the mountain while slightly waved my right hand.
3RD POV
Hiruzen was in his office after coming back from his little stroll. He was doing his work while thinking about the talk that he had with Yoshi earlier on the mountain.
'I don't know how an 8yo kid like him can think like that, guess he's no ordinary kid.
But I wondered, what does he mean by 'I have someone that I PROBABLY want to protect'? Why probably, though?'
"Sigh~ You are such an interesting kid, Yoshi. I hope I have the pleasure to talk you again sometime." Hiruzen said for the last time before continuing his work.

YOSHI'S HOUSE
YOSHI'S POV
I was at the kitchen, eating my dinner though my mind was somewhere else. I was thinking about the missions that I would be doing sooner or later. On the table right beside me, there was a black letter with white writings and some of them red. It was the missions letter.
'I still haven't learn the Ninjutsu yet, but I'm sure they're gonna be settle soon. I've done all the basics Taijutsu on my own and right now the one that I'm sure I can do it without any problem is the academy mission. Get top place for 4 years straight max or 2 years min.'
"Nah, I just do the minimum. I will get top place on the next year and on the third year too. So that's mean, I'll lay low on the first and last year, be a dumb student while trying get myself in the ranking. And they will think that I'm just trying to make myself notice but failed 'cause the lesson get more harder on the last year and I'm just succeed to get an average score. Well, that's a perfect story." I said happily while munching down on my food.
'Now, how do I do the scroll mi-'
When I was about to think about another plan, suddenly I heard a thud beside me and a voice speaking. I looked to the left and saw Hatake Kakashi in MY house without my permission....again.
"Yo, Yoshi. What does this I heard about being a dumb student? What are you doing?" Kakashi said while looked at me.
I was startled for a second before realising that I still didn't hid the letter yet, so I quickly grabbed it and hide it in my pocket. I can't let it go back into my wrist since it woud be too flashy and he surely would notice.
'I hope it doesn't crumpled. Nah, it's fine. I'd say it's a magic letter. I hope he doesn't see the letter.'
"H- hey! Kakashi, what are you doing here in my house without my permission and not to say got in from my kitchen window." I said while trying to put a calm expression on my face and not to look nervous.
"Wow, that was one way to greet someone. Well, I'm sorry for that but you need to get used to it. Anyway, I came here to check on you but I found you talking about something. What is it? Maybe I can help you?" Kakashi asked while being a good person he was, flashing his smiled eyes to me.
"Actually, no there's nothing you-"
I was about to tell him that I don't need his help, but suddenly there was an idea coming through my mind. If an elite shinobi volunteered himself to help me, why would I pushed away such generous offered, right.
"- you could help me with something, I guess." I said while give him a faint smile. Don't blame me, I'm not good with this stuff, but I try my best as to not looked sketchy on his eyes.
I saw Kakashi was hesitated for awhile before he answered me.
"Oh, okay. Ah, what is it that I can help you with?" asked Kakashi short.
"Well, I was wondering if Lord Hokage have sometime to spare next month, I mean his scheduled is always full so I don't expect he has."
"Oh, okay. But what's up with next month? Something's gonna happened?" Kakashi said awkwardly.
"Unh, next month is my birthday and I was planning to celebrate it with Naruto but he surely gonna invite Lord Hokage too. That's why I'm asking you now about his schedule so that maybe I can adjust our celebration date to another day because I don't want Naruto to feel disappointed." I said while looking at Kakashi with an expectant eyes.
'Quick thinking, my brain. Actually my birthday is on this month, January. Heh.' I think while already thinking the successful outcome of my plan.
"Hmm~ I'm not someone who has the authority to asked the Hokage what to do, but I'll talk to him. But I bet he's gonna find sometime anyway, since he also feel tired spend time with the papers."
"Really? Thank you, Kakashi-san. I will wait for the news."
"Ok, then. I'll tell you once I got the answer." I heard his said while walking towards the window and jumped out.
'First step, done. Now onto the second one, and I guess that could be done tomorrow because I'm so tired.'
"Yawn~ I'm sure gonna get hella busy from now on."
I rosed up from my sit and proceed to my bedroom after washed the dishes and putting back the letter in my wrist. Tell you what, the letter didn't crumpled a bit. Told you it's a magic letter. Anyway, I slept through the night with a satisfied feeling in my heart.
KAKASHI'S POV
'It's weird. No, Yoshi's weird. I already know he was planning something, but I can't figure out what. Is it have something to do with the academy 'cause I heard he mention it when I was sneaked on him. And about that help he asked me, I will do that later. Next month is still far away. At the same time, I need to observe him real close.'
"The sudden honorific creeped me out, though. Ugh."
I then proceeded to do my daily night patrol around the village before going home.
