ตอน 502: Jester's Shock
On a platform in front of the entire crowd that remained, Jester jumped around before their eyes pointing toward the position where the head of the Ducal family had previously been put on display. "Begin citizens! Punish the vile king who made your lives miserable!"
It was not just one among them who had suffered over the many long years that the king had been in power.
So many hated him and those of his bloodline yet they could do nothing about it due to their lack of power and status.
It had been so deeply ingrained into each of them that they could never overcome the status of the nobility so they had to endure whatever happened to them.
If they tried to do anything then they would be branded as traitors to their kingdom and so would their very bloodline who would live on in constant shame and discrimination if they were spared.
The only people in the bloodline of the Royal family that they ever had some hope toward were already believed to be dead.
Seeing the king and the princess placed in such a vulnerable state being put on display for all to see, gave so many of the citizens of Mercy Kingdom a feeling of confusion but it also ignited something deep within them.
They asked themselves if they could vent their anger as they had been told.
All it took was one brave soul among them to throw the first rotten fruit toward the platform for it to ignite a frenzy among the crowd.
"Hit him!"
"Get his daughter too!"
Rotten fruits and stones were flung from below causing them to hit the king and the princess who quickly lost their dignified appearances.
They quickly became messy-looking filled with all kinds of shallow wounds and other things staining their once pristine clothing.
Their previous proud faces were distorted into an unsightly appearance as there was a mix of hatred and unwillingness.
Just as everything was taking place on the platform and the show was slowly coming to a dramatic finish that Jester planned to perform personally, an unplanned and unexpected change took place.
A figure ran through the large crowd with great agility before leaping up onto the stage.
They were dressed in a black cloak hiding their appearance underneath as they stood opposite Jester who was trying to distinguish if they were an ally or if they were an enemy.
The wind blew onto the hood of the cloak causing the appearance of the unexpected intruder to be revealed.
Burn scars were down the side of the face of the woman who was revealed along with some other body parts on the same side of her body.
She had light blue hair and light blue eyes with an unmistakably beautiful face and skin if it was not for the burn scars that covered one half of it.
A gentle smile appeared on her face which showed her relief. "My Jester. You lived on."
It was Zero but she had removed the thick white face paint that covered up her appearance.
When she arrived at Mercy Kingdom, she did not expect everything to happen so smoothly and that was not the only surprise for her.
It was strange to be outside of the crowd and see her jester standing there as the leader of the forces that had aided her.
Zero eventually planned to reveal herself and her status to take back what was hers when she gained enough support to do so but seeing Jester, she had an impulse to step out to see him up close.
Jester's smile froze for a moment becoming very strange.
There was a clear sign of his emotional state being shaken as he gazed toward the woman opposite him.
The voice was so clear that it brought back so many fond memories.
One person who he believed to be gone in the world was in front of him.
He went through stages of disbelief, happiness, sorrow, and a wide variety of emotions as he gazed toward her and his face showed each emotion. "Princess... you are alive?"
The Duke who had been further away suddenly shouted. "The princess?! Oh, how the fates have smiled down upon our kingdom! There is still hope for us all!"
It made a large difference between a random group coming to deal with the king and for it to be an act supported by someone who could make a change to the kingdom and pick up the pieces.
What the kingdom needed was someone to help them climb back up and the princess was most suitable for that.
The outsiders could just as easily solve the problem but they would not be inclined to stick around once everything was over with.
It was doubtful if Jester would have any loyalties to his kingdom anymore since he was only loyal to the princess and it was likely that he was doing everything to avenge the princess.
"Praise be the princess!"
"All hail the princess!"
"Princess! Become the ruler!"
"Lead us to prosperity once more!"
The people who learned of her existence and her past deeds were quick to follow along as they begged for the princess to take her rightful place.
