บท 16: Rescue
Poe and his squadron manage to break into the first order fighter and manage to make them go back in retreat. He asks his squadron to persuade while on the flagship, Leia could feel her own brother's death as she feels it and falls to the ground. She looks at the Isarhorn and tears start to come out. She then feels something else coming from it, then asks Holdo to ask them to scatter.
Poe then receives a message from Holdo. She asks him to pull back and scattered.
"Poe this is your commander, turns your squadron back and retreat"
"We have them on the run commander"
"Please, just goes back. Trust me!"
"But.."
"Please Poe! for god damn sake, just trust your commander!!"
Poe bites his own lips and rolls his eyes, "alright commander, you heard what she says, boys. Let's move back"
Suddenly the Iser Horn main planet destroyer is turning on, a wave of heat could be detected. Commander Holdo then gives the order for the main fleet to go to port and starboard. Every ship is going straight away from the way of the death laser. Every fighter squadron does the same, Poe almost gets hit as the death laser is shooting out making the ship that is close shaken and people's faces light green. Its almost wipe half of the fleet of the Republik there.
"Check out the damage, Mr. Luna give me an update"
"Quarter of our fleet has been destroyed, no sign any of survival or pot"
Leia goes toward Holdo, "I don't like this Commander"
"I know, we also can call for help, Admiral Akbar is still on the outer rim and with the new separatist and neutral faction, we are dealing with many front right now"
"We must win this war fast and take back Sarapin"
"I agree that without Serapin all the inner planets will be vulnerable." Holdo seems a bit frustrated by the fact that the first order manages to take Serapin under their nose and without any fights whatsoever. How could they outmaneuver them?
Suddenly out of nowhere from their back came the first order of a new squadron plane. "SS- squadron follows me," Jacen says to them. They have been hiding behind the meteorite. They pull their hook and start pushing the meteors away and it looks like they are falling toward the main fleet ships.
Both Leia and Holdo were surprised by this counterattack but luckily Holdo already suspected a counterattack, that is the reason she pulled the fighter. Poe sees this and all the fighters have been diverted and asked for goes for the defense.
"Every Canon goes 90° degree and shoots" as Holdo commands all the ships to spread out more. She commands all the fighters to get at the right speed and be ready to counterattack.
Most first-order fighters manage to avoid the cannon of the ship and not firing back. Seeing what happened Holdo sees this type of maneuver before, she knows this is not just an ordinary fighter.
"Poe! Intercept those bombers now! Now!"
"Finally, aye aye commander"
As all the fighter goes pull up and face the diving imperial bombers.
Both planes didn't shoot yet because they knew they had a better chance later on. Poe and his squad are waiting for them to unload their payload where they cannot maneuver to avoid an attack. Jacen also waiting for the right time where he cant pull out right now and have to drop his torpedos bomb.
In the main fleet and the Iser Horn main base, people were confused in this few minutes with one question in mind. "Why are they not shooting yet?"
Holdo Command to transfer all the power to the shield, pull the cannon and ask them to get ready for impact. She knows after she asks her fighter to intercept she cant use her cannon or she might hit one of her own. Now she puts all her trust in the fighter and Poe.
Poe and Jacen are head to head and both saying, "wait for it, wait for it." As they both squadrons approach each other
"Yes poe, not yet" Holdo says to her self.
"Captain!!" As one of the Crew called out to Poe.
"Not yet!!"
BB-8 also worried
"Not yet!!"
Both Jacen and Poe's eyes start to open up as they are close but not so close.
"NOW!"
Jacen drops the Torpedoes and each plane has 4 with them. 2 on their wings and 2 from inside. Poe and his squadron try to shoot every bomber before the Torpedoes is unleash. But some of them get away and with the torpedoes go and target the main fleet.
"Blue Squadron goes after the Torpedoes, yellow, Red!! With me, let's take down some bombers!!" As all of them scattered. The bombers are also scared and try to avoid the Republik fighter, with a single pull every bomber turns into a fighter.
The blue squadron captain, Captain Logos is the one after the torpedoes. He orders the men to protect the main fleet. They manage to take down a few but some get into the ship of the main fleet. The torpedoes droll into them and detonate violently first pushing and pulling and then pushing away again. Logos see 12 torpedoes heading toward the flagship. Logos ask 2 of his men to follow him. They intercept the torpedoes in the nick of time.
But from the 12 two already manage to drill into the flagship haul and side of the ship. While the last one is targeted to the main command, where Holdo is holding.
Both Holdo and Leia see the torpedoes coming in and one of the crew already says brace for impact. She sees it getting closer and closer. She closed her eyes and was ready to accept the choice of trusting her pilots. Yet in that final moment, Logos manages to shoot it before it hits the ships as Leia and Holdo hold themselves and the other express holding in for the impact. They then see logos Ship came out of the smoke with a sigh of relief. Holdo smiles at what happened.
Meanwhile, Poe and the rest of the Yellow and Red Squadron are in a dog fight with Jacen and his fighter-bomber squadron. Jacen is following Poe as he tries to shoot him down. In Front of him is Chopper and then behind him, there is Luna the navigator or so-called skywalker. Behind Luna facing back is Finn as the gunner.
Poe then maneuvered between other fighters and managed to back Jacen behind. Finn then gunner the hell out of Poe that is tries to avoid Finn attack and even though a few hit none is severe enough.
"Jacen you have to shake him, man, I don't know how long I could handle him! This guy is too good"
Jacen then tries to do the same what Poe does but counter it with a U-turn and now they are face to face gonna hit but they avoid it and Poe fastly U-turn and back chasing Jacen. "I can't shake him"
"Then do something dammit!!"
"Shut up alright, Jacen, let's do it!!" Luna said to him
"No, it's still on trial, remember!!"
"What choice do we have?"
"Get ready then, Fernando turn ur ass here"
"Don't tell me what to do.."
As Finn sits move forward with the gunner
"You three ready?"
Chopper voice answering him
Luna then turns on the core of the machine, "Trans-Hyperdrive on!" As suddenly gains speed and in Poe's eyes disappear leaving only a trail of lights. It's so fast that only a fraction of its light is left. Jacen then goes to help the other pilots and one by one the republic fighter is shot down.
All seems lost, Poe tries to catch up with it but he is nowhere near the speed. He tries to outdo it even though BB-8 says he can't do it and tells that his x-wing isn't built like that.
Suddenly Holdo asked him to retreat. Another wave of bombers is coming in and they are diving fast. Poe looks mad and keeps on aftering the person.
Holdo on the other hand is angry at the comm right now, "Poe please, don't do the same vault again. Turn your ass back to the ship!!"
"The 2nd wave of the bomber is closing in commander," one of her officers says to her.
She looks at Leia, "our shield will not hold for another 2nd wave"
"May the force be with us then" she looks still hoping for the best.
"Commander, I detected coming out of hyperspace on our 3"
"Is it a 1st order ship?"
"No its..
MANDALORIAN!"
A Mandalorian Fighter comes to the aid of the republic fighter. It stops the second wave on its track and manages to stop most of the torpedoes. Some that hit a few ships but there is no more serious damage.
"Commander Holdo", as a man stands on the other side of the comm.
"Well, well, well isn't it Rhom Kryze, the last Kryze. I thought Mandalorian stands neutral in our war" Holdo cross her arms
"We are here not for your aids, but to save allies in distress"
"It's not the republic I presume"
They both smile at each other. Knowing well who they want to save.
While on the other side of the war, Jacen is ordered to retreat back to the carrier. It is said that their mission here is almost done.
"Jacen the core is almost overheated, we better follow the order," Luna said to him
"I agree," Finn said to him with chopper following
"Cih, alright"
But the Mandalorian fighter did not let them get off that easily. They are here not to help the republic but more to keep most of the fighters and mostly the elite fighters from the objective.
As someone in the ship is preparing for action.
