Im Back... And so is Tom
I was waiting on a bench near Santa Monica's Bay for my friends to come back and probably fight Ares, the reason? The Nereid did not bother to give four pearls instead of three useful to get out of the death realm, and it makes sense, they are the questers protected by plot and fate... I... am not. I really wanted to meet Hades, but I guess magical me had to wait a while longer.
Broom, VROOOM
All of a sudden the sound of a motorcycle interrupts my musings and the driver parks directly near me, I already knew who we were dealing with, no surprise at all.
"Lord Ares... to what do I owe the pleasure," I ask with a voice not expressing the emotions of surprise and joy my words should have conveyed.
"Mortal... we seem to meet each other slot lately," he says standing straight in front of his motorcycle looking directly at my seated form ready to strike. That is probably why my next words surprised him greatly
"Yea, you have probably seen me more than the entirety of your cabin combined," I say with a small chuckle "Why don't you sit down while we wait for the gang?" you know me, if I can avoid embarrassing a God I would, especially if I do not know if Kronos will still stop Are when Percy defeats him.
Ares sits down, arm on the backside of the bench eyes looking at the darkening sky eyes firm "I just found out you knew all along I was the one behind it... It is kind of commendable you know, it feels like you understand me" he turns to me " The Gods will not hear any of this"
"Lord Ares I do not think I can be as bold as to I can understand you... But yes I figured it was you behind it like I believe anyone else would have..."
"But none did..." he says narrowing his eyes "Even Athena was deceived," he says
"I hardly believe she was deceived, I think that was mostly the Fates work," I tell him with a wry smile
He raises an eyebrow allowing me to explain further
"They had a prophecy to try and work out, I figured out that humans' actions, as well as Godly interventions, never matter in the face of a prophecy and I was hella confused why. Then I realized... it doesn't matter, everything you do will always be counted in the prophecy to, in the end, see its fulfillment. After all isn't it curious that even after I found out none believed me? I believe the Fates made a mistake here not accounting that a mortal was immune to their hypnosis prophecy thing so they decided to include as well last-minute" I shrug coolly "Or maybe it was meant to be from the start"
"You might... have a point mortal... Are you sure you are not one of Athena's children?" he asks with furrowed brows
"Pfft, I have heard that way too many times now ahahah. I have to admit tho, never would I have thought to be able to make a serious conversation with the God of muscleheads and witty pre-fight trash-talking, wanna do that till Percy arrives and we will probably have one of the weirdest fights to date?" I ask him with a smirk
He replies with a smirk of his own "Now we are talking... LADY"
"OH PLEASE that is just too overused this is how you answer to that: do I go out to buy your tampons before or after we fight? You might want to wear pads in the meantime, just to be safe... GIRL" my laugh almost threatening to come out
He raises an eyebrow "That was actually pretty decent of a counter but I have definitely heard better-"
I interrupt him before he can chip in "From who? Your mom? I guess even after a couple of millennia she still spanks your naughty ass... Understandable tho... Her little kid is so unpredictable that you leave your eyes off him for a second and he decides to start a war between Olympians" I end with a smirk
That was a counter if I have ever seen one, he just narrows his eyes his whole aura exudes power, I know he is just testing I don't cower in fear and so I do not I look at him but my mind is elsewhere to help me cope his fear-inducing aura, then after a while, he starts chuckling then full-on laughing.
"AHAHAHA now THAT is an answer, I am almost tempted to reply but your friends are here and I need to be on my A-Game if I want to piss off that sea-spawn," he says looking at the sea
"Do we really have to do this Ares? Why not stop now..."
"What you scared?" he asks challengingly
"Yes, I am... But I will still need to stop you" I say taking out my sword, he does the same, Percy is coming running, I and Ares exchange a couple of blows... he is too powerful. I immediately find myself tolling into the sand after a kick to the gut.
"TOM! You alright man?" asks the fish head
"Yeah man... we need to stop the idiot," I tell him
"Yea... sorry to not have believed you, he is the one behind it, we need to stop him."
"You don't FUCKING say... Sigh... damn... let's go, man"
The good old talk about ' ah, you tricked us' 'oh I did, whatchugonna do 'bout it' 'It is the voice in the pit ordering you (Kronos?)' 'oh I am the God of war I can't be ordered by anyone so now we fight' shenanigans... yeah... I just summarized the whole three minutes speech in a couple of funny sentences... praise me for I am infinite, for I am eternal, for I am... Tom...
THE MORTAL
The fight starts with Percy lounging at Ares, however contrary to my expectations the God of war had no plans to toy with Percy as much as in the books, two hits, and Percy is sent into the water. Percy is already beside me and is about to charge again when I tell him "Wait! We can beat him only if we fight together, the plan is this gksjdhchysbn pssst"
"Mmh... we might as well try this out no?" he asks
"Then let's do it. Annie! My favorite smartass takes the driver and the things away from here then come back to check if we are not already dead, call a taxi, and if push comes to shove take the oversized firecracker to Olympus."
"NO TOM I WILL-" she tries to argue while Ares is looking at this with a raised eyebrow probably amused
"ANNABETH CHASE GET YOUR BUTT OUTTA HERE. NOW." I scream with absolute finality, she looks at me before nodding her head in acknowledgment.
"Damnit Tom, Percy... If you dare die I am literally going to revive you and kill you again with my bare hands..."
"Damn... why does this phrase feel so familiar?" I mutter to myself
"Yo Ares, sorry for the delay, Percy, let's go!"
We charge together and in improvised perfect sync we defend and attack
Percy parties the heavy-as-a-car hit and I follow up with a jab, that gets interrupted by another strike by the God that I parry with enormous difficulty, and before he can do anything else Percy strikes... Getting parried.
This goes on for a while, Ares smirk still donning his face while we were completely on the back foot the entire time, cuts were showing, fatigue was rapidly stacking...
The God had clearly enough, taking out another sword out of nowhere he proceeds to disarm me and with never seen speed he kicks my gut sending me against a wooden cabin completely destroying it.
Percy was not disarmed instead he took the full power of the Godly bodybuilder launching the poor Kelp Head into the sea... The pieces were now set.
Percy was in the sea... I slowly raise my head to see if the last piece would be a doll as well.
And disappoint she did not, the God now near the water has some 'unknown' reason lost his balance briefly, this gives the son of Poseidon the timeframe to attack. He with his sword covered in whirling water charges at Ares.
"Take this Ares" he screams
Ares smirks "You are a bit too young for that"
Again with impossible speed Ares blocks the powerful lounge of the demigod but is now completely unbalanced, the stab was VERY powerful, formed with full emotional power, and Ares made the mistake to downplay the threat.
Then Percy slashes then stabs the heel downing the God.
As predicted the god, about to kill Percy stops mid-strike and then without any kind of remark flashes away.
Well, I don't think I would be able to ever say that but thanks Kronos! Once again playing right into the hands of the fates, you, tiny little chess piece.
Coming out of the rubble I slowly walk to Annabeth and Percy hugging each other.
"Yo Percy, that was awesome man. I wonder who was the awesome friend who taught you that. Should give him a blue pancake later ngl" I tell my now lifelong friend.
"Yea, yea, thank you Tom that was a genius idea man. So cool as well, hope father will like it" we hug each other while grinning. Like hell I will let you fight this madness alone... you are way too important to me now you stupid fish I think with a big smile.
"I knew you could understand Annie, it was a bit too cryptic for my liking, but honestly... you are awesome" I hug her while giving a peck on the cheeks... Yeah, I am a dispenser of affection what can I do about it...
For her part she goes red before saying "I don't know how I managed to grasp that as well... weird not going to lie, however, it was a good plan... and... well... thank you..." she says
Me and Percy mock pure shock "Omg... Percy... Did the proud daughter of Athena, holder of the golden Casino Card, princess of money and architecture expert just..."
"Said thank you? Yeah... I thought I was hallucinating or something" ends Percy for me
"Oh shut up you two will you?"
we all start laughing Grover coming to us a while later laughing as well

On Olympus a while later, and a brief recounting of the story later
"Well done quarters, Ares shall serve his punishment. Son of Poseidon... for today... you will live to honor your contributions, do not presume to fly again. Never let me see you right under my domain. Remember, you should be dead, you are spared." the king lets the encouraging word sink in in my our heads... what a jerk I think.
"But what about you Mortal? Who are you really, what are you doing here, and explain why you could accomplish all those feats, if your answers satisfy me I may let you live. You are an anomaly, and I don't like anomalies." said the thunder God
" Before I start my lord, let me ask a question if I swear on the Styx to not betray Olympus do I get some more pity points for this innocent mortal?"
This gets a reaction from him "You may pronounce the oath, of course, if you are loyal, there is no reason for us to get rid of you..." he says with a raised eyebrow as if challenging me.
You need to understand that in this situation I am alone... with literally no one willing to protect me. I need to have some kind of backing, and I can find it in the form of an oath.
"I swear on the Styx to never betray Olympus as long as Olympus doesn't betray me or humanity" thunder booming in the distance signifying the validity of the oath
"Oh? As long as Olympus doesn't betray me?" asks Athena "That's smart but I acknowledge the oath"
she says smiling... SMILING? Was she always this nice?
"So do I beautiful~~," says Aphrodite winking at me while waving. Well WOW did not expect that
"My Ladies, I am most thankful," I say with a head bow
The council was all in favor of my oath, I guess it helped a bit
"Now I believe you said you are not a demigod is it true?" Zeus asks
"Indeed I am, Lord Zeus at least at the beat of my knowledge, I have both parents and don't suffer from ADHD and Dyslexia, I believe lord Apollo can confirm? Ah... sorry for that, I shouldn't have asked you I am still getting to the whole God thing I hope you don't take it as disrespect" I say with a wry smile, I need to remember that to them I am dirt I am NOT a demigod as such I cannot really ask for a God to do anything
But Apollo is your regular bro he never cares about meaningless things "Ah no worries, no worries, you are telling the truth"
"Mmh" Zeus nods sagely "Then how could you accomplish all that?" he asks again
"Umh... I guess... I'm just that good? And mostly lucky not going to lie, without Annie, Percy, and Grover I would most likely not have done any of that..." I say mixing arrogance with humbleness a train Gods tend to like in myths
"Ahanaha, I like this guy!" exclaims Apollo getting an 'ugh men' from Artemis sitting beside him
I notice my eyes wander to the goddess and oh boy... Auburn hair styled in a long single braid, silver eyes that stare deep into your soul... as if undressing you completely of your pitiful defenses, she was dressed like a huntress, her now on her back, her posture both regal and relaxed. You felt like a prey, ready to be captured, with no chance to ever escape. Noticing my blunder I immediately bow my head to the goddess trying to play it off as if I wasn't doing anything except looking at the person speaking and averting my eyes at the end of the speech... Aphrodite who? Who is the goddess of beauty here! Anyways...
"You will live for today then Mortal... You are all dismissed, I need to wash my bolt from impurities anyway" a loud boom and he is out.
Everyone follows suit, the last ones remaining to be Poseidon, Aphrodite, and curiously Artemis.
Poseidon speaks with Percy while Aphrodite runs to me and embraces me in a hug, kinda surprised me but not really.
"Lady Aphrodite... Thank you for sticking out for me it is greatly appreciated" I say to her with a smile
"Oh please, enough of that Lady thing, just call me Aphrodite for Zeus' sake. Anyways I am here to remember you that we still have a date to go to. And since Ares is grounded I have all the time in the world. So be ready for a date when I feel like it... Byeee~" she kisses me on the cheek not allowing me a chance to answer before vanishing in a poof of pink smoke.
I glance at Artemis quickly bowing with a small smile before redirecting my attention to Percy speaking in the distance.
Then I hear the sound of an arrow and the goddess disappears. I guess all is well all that ends well?
We then return to camp for a good well deserved rest.
POV Artemis
And still, he shows no emotions to her advances, not only that but he shows experience fighting, and hunting skills when killing monsters... you are hiding something male, and I will find out what... Nobody escapes the hunt. NOBODY.
