Chapter 012
The next few days were relatively peaceful for Alex. Aside from school, Chikara dojo and exercise, there wasn't much to do and he was fitting in his new life comfortably.
In school, he had already managed to become better friends with Peter Parker.
As his brain was way better than his previous life, it was easier for him to converse in more scientific topics.
He was also trying to do well in his classes as he didn't want to incur the wrath of his mother if his grades dropped. But thanks to that, he had enough topics to converse with Peter.
They both talked from new scientific discoveries to the latest video games.
There was even a time when Peter had brought up Tony Stark and how he was excited about the new Stark expo and they discussed whether Tony Stark would really give up his armour to the government.
As in this timeline Uncle Ben was still alive, Peter didn't have any guilt weighing over him. But Alex was sure that even without it, Peter was gonna become a great superhero.
Aside from his normal life, he was also working hard in the dojo.
He was assigned to the basic beginner classes which were honestly easy for him. The other students in the class were also new like him but no one was taking it seriously aside from Alex.
In the past week, he learned the basic stance and some attack and defense moves. There was also a breathing technique that the instructor taught him.
It was pretty useful for him as it helped him stay calm in most situations.
As he was getting better in the basics each day, it didn't take him long to become the best student among the beginners.
It was mostly thanks to his learning attitude, added with his flexibility skill that helped him maintain balance at all times and the bonus stat points he had gotten with the system.
Alex's speed of improvement and learning attitude was a sort of wonder for the instructors who were used to dealing with wild teenage kids overflowing with hormones.
This also didn't escape Colleen's eyes who started seeing him as a future candidate for the scholarship granted by the Hand.
It was to the point that she was present during the weekly spars of the beginner students.
"Why don't you let me hit your pretty face, Alex? I would love to dent it a little."
Markus, a student who had started learning with Alex snickered.
The other students watched them excitedly with some of Markus' friends cheering him on. On the side, a male instructor and Colleen watched.
"Can't let you do that, Mark. You see, girls won't like me if I looked like you." Alex smiled. "And you won't be able to even touch me."
"You sure have a lot of confidence in yourself."
Markus frowned and stepped forward with a punch. It was aimed straight at his face and Alex easily dodged it by sidestepping.
Then, he immediately threw a punch back, straight at the chest.
A groan escaped Markus's lips as the punch made him almost crouch down in pain. He tried to not get defeated so soon and put up a fight, but Alex wasn't going to give him a chance.
He immediately sent out a kick on his side, making him fall to the floor.
This marked the end of the clash.
"Markus lost. The winner is Alex." The instructor shouted amidst the whispers of the students.
'It's way easier than I thought.'
Alex thought as he glanced at Markus who the instructor was tending to.
He felt like the trash talk before the fight was way longer than the fight itself. Although he knew that he wouldn't lose to any of the students in the beginner class, he never thought the fight would be this fast.
After all, Markus was taller than him and had a bulky frame, making him look intimidating.
'Either Markus is weaker than I thought or if I'm still underestimating my powers...'
As Alex was thinking that, Colleen walked up to him.
"That was one of the easiest victories I have seen." She said with a hint of being impressed.
"Thank you, sensei. I didn't think it would be this easy."
"Well, Markus talks more than he fights. He lost the battle in that first punch itself. That punch was just a brute one and he lost his stance while using it."
Colleen said, giving a disappointed glance to Markus. She was the type to care for most of her students. As almost all of them were from poor households, including Markus, she wanted them to get a scholarship from Hand, so they could live a better life.
At least she thought they would get a better life.
"Are you gonna stay back to observe the next batch today too?"
She asked, tilting her head a little.
Since he has started learning, Alex has been constantly staying back to observe the other students who have learned way more than him.
Colleen had asked him why he was working so hard, even going to the extent of staying back to observe.
But the only answer she had got was that Alex wanted to get better fast.
"I'm not gonna stay back today. I have an... assignment to complete."
"Okay. Then, let's meet tomorrow." Colleen smiled. "If you continue this, you will soon get the scholarship."
Alex smiled wryly as Colleen mentioned the scholarship.
But today, he didn't have time to think about it. It's already been more than a week since he has landed in the Marvel world and chosen the hero path.
Now today, it was his first official day as a vigilante.
'I hope nothing bad happens.'
He thought as he left the Chikara dojo.
Alex had prepared a lot for this day – choosing the perfect area to make his mark, learning to fight and running out of most of the possible scenarios in his head.
He had even thought about what his hero name would be for hours.
For a hero, one of the most important things was his alternate name as people will remember him by that name.
In a way, it was a nickname.
Many of the heroes have made their names themselves while many names were given to them by the public. In Alex's case, he already has a name for himself.
"Lycan."
It was a name that complimented his pet wolf and was entirely unique to him.
