This youth was named Murong Yu. As of now, he was practising his swordplay as he killed ghouls.
In the Ghastly Ruins, Murong Yu was firmly ranked first. It'd been a long time since anyone had posed a challenge to his position.
However, as he was training, he was suddenly sensed a sword intent much more stronger than his own, so he came to find the source.
Murong Yu couldn't help frowning as he made an estimate on the amount of soul scales littered on the ground.

Gu Bei looked at Murong Yu, as he'd sensed a powerful aura just as Murong Yu appeared. What was he planning?
Gu Bei and Murong Yu eyed each other as Lin Lingtian ignored the two while trying to manipulate causality into showing him the way to the Yin Valley.

What was going to happen between them? Their confrontation incited the attention of several others nearby. Aside from Hu Yong's underlings, Gu Heng's men were also among them.
However, none of them had fully comprehended the situation yet; therefore, they didn't dare make unnecessary moves, such as approaching them. After all, Murong Yu's strength wasn't something they could match against.
"You're Lin Lingtian?" Murong Yu looked over his opponent with scrutiny.
Not being able to sense Lin Lingtian's aura , Murong Yu assumed that Lin Lingtian's cultivation was beneath him.
Gu Bei stepped up looked at Murong Yu. "That's right. Who are you?" Although Gu Bei could sense the tremendous pressure bearing down on him, he didn't lower his head.
"I'm Murong Yu!" he proudly announced. A good majority of the younger experts were well aware of his name.
Murong Yu? Gu Bei suddenly realised who he was. Before they'd entered the Ghastly Ruins, his name was the first one ranked on the hunting board!
But now that Murong Yu had appeared, what was he planning to do?
At that moment, someone from among Gu Heng's underlings suddenly shouted from afar, "Senior Brother Murong, we've all been looking forward to meeting you! Every one of us absolutely respects you! However, there were some newcomers who were disrespectful to Senior Brother Murong. Lin Lingtian here said that you were a pile of dogshit who he'd soon crush beneath him! We couldn't accept such words, so a dispute occurred between us. However, our strength isn't on part with his!"
Gu Bei's eyes widened as he realized that these people wanted to use Murong Yu to find trouble with master.
Murong Yu's narrowed his eyes as his expression turned cold. A vast wave of aura bore down on Gu Bei and Lin Lingtian. Murong Yu coldly snorted and asked, "Is that true?"
Gu Bei instantly understood Murong Yu's intentions. With Murong Yu's intellect, there was no way he'd actually believe the words of Hua Ling's men. What Murong Yu needed was an excuse to suppress Lin Lingtian, and Gu Heng's underling had just provided him with the perfect one!
The geniuses of each class year always feared challenges from the next year's geniuses. If they won, then it'd be a given; however, if they lost, they'd be reduced to stepping stones. That was also why Murong Yu kept challenging the genius of the year before him, Li Xingyun.
Lin Lingtian was the most outstanding genius of the new class year, whereas Murong Yu was the most outstanding from the previous one. Before long, Lin Lingtian would certainly challenge Murong Yu; therefore, Murong Yu had to make the first move and beat Lin Lingtian down before that happened!
"If you're intent on condemning someone, why bother with a pretext? With your intellect, you wouldn't believe those guys anyways, right?" As Gu Bei spoke, he unsheathed his sword as a wave of sword intent spread throughout the terrain.
Sweat dripped down Murong Yu's face as he felt Gu Bei's sword intent which was only an entirely different level than his own.
In the Draconic Ruins Realm, there was no dignity for the weak! Lin Lingtian had displayed powerful talent; therefore, he'd received the attentions of many higher-ups. At the same time, he'd also made many enemies from his own generation. They all fervently wished for someone to come along and beat Lin Lingtian to the ground!
A general is made from the bones of thousands of soldiers. To walk the Dao of cultivation, you must step over others! Murong Yu was well aware of this; by stepping on Lin Lingtian, he'd be able to receive more attention and more cultivation resources!

But suddenly Lin Lingtian stood up as Murong Yu's intent was instantly suppressed.
Lin Lingtian turned and glanced at Murong Yu.
" Looks like you're quite unconvinced!" Murong Yu coldly looked down on Lin Lingtian who was extremely annoyed. "In that case, I'll make sure to teach you a good lesson today. If you want to stay in the Skysoul Institute, then you'll have to learn to respect your elders first!" When Murong Yu barked, his voice had turned into sonic blades and flew towards Lin Lingtian.
Murong Yu hadn't even drawn his sword yet, but there was already sword intent contained in his voice.
( ~ Boom ~ )
A dust cloud emerged from where Lin Lingtian was standing as Murong Yu was satisfied with his attack.
' To think you are only on this level.'
But a flash moved out of the dust cloud as it appeared in front of Murong Yu.
Lin Lingtian covered in dark smoke which was a mortal view on causality as Lin Lingtian outstretched his hand.
Murong Yu instantly drew his sword to attack but before he could do anything, hundreds of thousands of runes appeared behind him.
These runes were made by Lin Lingtian to weaken the impact of his punch.
Murong Yu couldn't even perceive what had happened as Lin Lingtian swung his fist.
The moment it touched Murong Yu's body , it met little to no resistance as Murong Yu's body was vaporised while a blinding light covered the entire sky of the Ghastly ruins for a second.
Lin Lingtian clicked his tongue as he wanted to see what would happen if he only used a 1% of his power but Murong Yu's performance had left his dissatisfied.
Lin Lingtian glanced at Gu Bei who had killed all of Gu Heng's men before placing his hand on the ground.
He had almost found the yin valley before that weakling came and distracted him.
To Lin Lingtian this was especially annoying considering that the Yin Valley was fateless and it took him and the AI working together to manipulate causality to retrace Li Qiye coincidencal discovery of the mysterious Yin valley but that piece of shit had to come and disturb his flow.
