**NOLAN'S POV**
Early the next afternoon, the day after Addie's actual birthday, I went to her apartment. I had told her that we were going out, but I hadn't told her much of anything else. She hadn't known how to dress for the day, what to prepare for, or anything like that. And, honestly, I think that was for the best. She would be surprised no matter what happened. And if she needed a wardrobe change, well, her and I both knew how to do that with magic, so there was nothing at all to worry about there.
"So Nolan, what is on the schedule for today?" She asked me, as we walked arm in arm away from her apartment.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" I said teasingly, as I looked down at her.
"Hey, that isn't fair." She pretended to pout. "Why won't you tell me?" Despite her words, there was a wide, excited smile on her face.
"It's more fun to make you suffer in anticipation." I pretended to laugh as well, adding a false note of maniacal joy into the sound as well.
