บท 33: Grim Festival
At the northern walls of the Capitolio city, at the top of the city walls, soldiers who are assigned in this post fell lifeless. Over their corpses, five individuals wearing cloaks watched over the city from above.
They communicated with each other through eye contacts. As the tall man, who seems to be their leader, signals to his subordinates, they each went on their way. A muscular man and a woman went south west. A kid went south east. While the leader and a tall woman went south west as well after a while.
Within the city hall, the rulers of the other two kingdoms of Agham along with their children around the ages of 7 to 18 have gathered. King and Queen Prophiets of Disierto and their children.
Prince Alran (18), The Wise. A well respected prince known for his maturity and wisdom.
Princess Vareni (13), a famed prodigy. A promising talented child with a bright future.
And Princess Sajuretyunad (8), The Gifted Princess. The princess born with vast amount of Arch Mage mana.
As well as the King and Queen Majarlica of Drageo and their two prince.
Prince Hadrian (12), The Genius Prince. A competitive rising star surpassing previous records in Ranger magic mastery.
And Prince Timaeus (7), The Golden Heart. A very kind child symbolizing hope and peace for the future of Drageo.
King Prophiet: "We are still expecting King Reina and his daughter. Where could they be?"
King Majarlica: "King Reina is currently attending a mass at the Capelia Sol Chapel."
Queen Majarlica: "I have also heard that Prince Makali will attend in this year's meeting, finally revealing his identity."
Queen Prophiet: "So we're still waiting for three people. It is still pretty early anyway, let us have a small talk for a while."
"I've heard that Queen Majarlica is currently bearing another child! Is this true?"
King Majarlica smiled: "It is true."
Queen Prophiet: "Oh wonderful! Congratulations to both of you!"
King Prophiet: "Congratulations."
Queen Majarlica: "Thank you."
King Majarlica: "We decided to have one more child, hopefully a daughter this time."
"Since our land's recent harvests are quite bountiful, Drageo Kingdom is in a prosperous state today, so we thought this might be the perfect time to raise another healthy child."
King Prophiet: "That is great to hear. Maybe you are destined to bring back the former glory of Drageo, Lord Majarlica."
Alran: "A pleasure to meet both of your again this year, Prince Hadrian, Prince Timaeus."
Hadrian: "The honor is ours."
Timaeus bowed his head.
Vareni: "Well if it isn't Hadrian. There is no one else with that much punchable of a face that I noticed you right away."
Hadrian: "What did you say?!"
Alran seems like he isn't stopping them from fighting, or to be exact, he is no longer trying to, as they do this pretty much everytime they meet.
Sajuretyunad: "Here they go again."
Alran: "Saju, Timaeus, let's head over somewhere else."
"Do not be like those two, okay?"
Timaeus: "We promise."
Hadrian covered his ears and said: "Oh my god, can you just shut up?!"
Hadrian walked away.
Annoyed, Vareni's face shifts from a smug smile into a sour look as soon as Hadrian turned around.
Hadrian got fed up after years of torment and bullying. He no longer care about formalities and finally speaks so frankly when talking to her.
Hadrian: "Father, may I please go out for a while? I want to meet someone."
King Majarlica: "As long as you have Miss Petra with you. Be careful!"
"Comeback before the conference starts!"
Hadrian exited the conference room.
Outside the room, Petra, the old royal guard assigned to Hadrian, is waiting for the Majarlica family.
Hadrian: "Madam Petra, could you please escort me to the church?" He said as he ran towards outside and to the gate.
As he reached outside the metal gates, he bumped into a tall woman in cloak.
Hadrian: "I'm sorry, ma'am."
Petra: "Please wait for me, young master."
The tall woman said nothing and left.
Hadrian told the coach of the carriage: "Take us to Capelia Sol."
At the Capelia Sol.
King Reina: "Now that the mass has ended, let us head to the conference, Sinta, Lord Kali."
Kali: "I might have to make a bit of a detour from here, King Reina. I wanted to meet with my friends in the city square first."
Biel: "Are you sure? You might be late for the assembly."
Kali: "Heed my orders, Biel." He said as he knew Biel and Vint wanted to meet up with Gale and Ymae.
Biel: "Well if you say so."
Sinta: "I'll be going as well then."
King Reina: "I see, then me and your siblings will be going ahead first. Be careful to all of you."
Kali and Sinta bowed their heads.
Vint: "I guess this is where my observation duty ends, Biel. Let's meet with them."
Vint, Biel, Kali, and Sinta hired another coach to escort them to the square where the Katacuesta Festival is held to meet up with Gale and Ymae.
A while later, they arrived at the city square. The place is filled with the citizens and rich merchants from all over the empire. It is the biggest festival of the empire as their hero, Princess Kata, prevented the Great War from further growing with her famous expeditions all over the most powerful kingdoms of the continent, ending local conflicts and making treaties for peace and alliance. Using her name as the most powerful magician in history, Void Eyes, to exercise her influence. The festival is celebrated to appreciate the time of peace brought by the hero, though it was only a matter of time before everything fall into chaos once again as numerous conflict ignites in neighbouring countries in the past recent years and it still keeps on growing.
Kali smiles in excitement: "There so many people here."
Vint: "This must be the first time you have gone outside."
Kali: "This is my first time seeing this many people as well. This place is so lively."
"The smell of food is making me hungry, I want to try them."
They hopped off the carriage. Kali is eager to look around.
Biel: "Don't stray far from us, Kali, Sinta. We still have to find those two."
Vint: "Let's go–"
Just as he was about to say it, a massive explosion occurred northeast, the direction where the City Hall is located, where the Kings and Queens of Agham have gathered.
The crowd screamed and then went quiet for a brief moment to see what is happening. Panic gradually ensues, as the the crowd once again grew louder and louder.
Sinta: "I might go ahead first, I'll have to see my family."
Kali: "We're going with you!"
Vint: "We're not leaving you two alone, let's head fast."
Just as they were about to ride another carriage, another explosion is heard nearby, this time it's exactly in the City Square, where Gale and Ymae are.
Biel: "Ymae!"
Sinta: "You two can go find Gale and Ymae. Don't worry about us."
Vint hesitates: "... Don't be stupid, it's our responsibility to lead you two to safety."
Kali: "Vint, Biel, I want you to find and protect the two, this is an order."
Vint: "..."
Vint at first was hesitant but he eventually changed his mind.
Vint: "Thank you, Kali. Be safe."
Kali and Sinta separated with Biel and Vint and went to the City Hall in a carriage.
Sinta felt uneasy.
Sinta put each of their hood on: "Kali, cover your face. It doesn't feel safe around here."
Out of nowhere, the horses stopped and the coach was stabbed by a thrown dagger.
The windows of the carriage was shattered by a flying rock and the cloaked kid we've seen earlier went in through the window trying to grab Sinta.
Cloaked Kid: "You're coming with me, Makali Albedo!" He said as he mistaken Sinta's identity as Kali due to her tomboyish traits in addition to both their faces covered by their hood.
Kali tackled him back out.
The cloaked kid and Kali both fell out of the carriage.
Sinta barges out of the carriage.
The kid brought out another knife and pointed it at Kali's neck, holding him hostage: "Do not move or she will die!"
He said as he mistaken Kali as the princess due to his feminine looks.
Sinta: "Let her go and I'll go with you! You're looking for me, right?!"
Kali: "What are you talking about Sinta?! She's lying, I am Makali!"
Both of them are assuming the identity of the prince in order to protect each other.
The kidnapper is genuinely confused. In the end the kid ended up taking Kali instead since he's already within his reach.
Cloaked Kid: "Stay there! Don't follow us!"
As the kid is getting away, Sinta screamed: "I'll come save you!"
