In a different dungeon within the castle, the same day Kali injured himself, he is trying to understand the gist of the dark arts to establish a basis for his studies. The dungeon is a labyrinth filled with thousands of hidden books, all kept clean every week as if it's all used regularly. It is a library Sakal visits whenever he had the time. It is the primary source of his education back when he was a child and used them to rise to kingship regardless of having no royal blood in him. The labyrinth contained many forbidden knowledge that are taboo to most culture including of their own that he gathered from illegal connections and some that he wrote himself.
Kali searched for a book of dark arts in the Magic section. There he discovered that dark arts doesn't only cover magic topics but all sorts of mysterious or horrifying man-made phenomenas and activities cannot be properly explained. These includes advanced technology, chemistry, physics, especially biology, and more. As it is a part of the continent's culture to never disturb the natural order of life, believing that the god of immortality will take away one's blessing and will never be given the chance to rest in the "Precedion" (their version of afterlife).
This strict disipline-focused belief is followed by many to counter the devastating violence magic could bring.
As low as the chances of survival out there, outside the comforting walls of Agham Empire, the will to live and the value of life to people is more than what we could ever understand.
Labeling actions as dark arts is a societal protective measure to not let their people do dangerous actions that are hardly understood.
Soon Kali will break this unspoken rule. Kali practiced with the pork over and over until he finally concludes and worded his discovery "Dark arts of magic, magic class foundation of Suicide Voodoo spell or popularly known as Mirror Curse spell. This magic cannot freely control the subject on itself as all it can do is to make the target mimic the body movement and structure of the user, but with immense focus to mental and emotional changes, the user can specify the area covered by the magic and slightly increase it's intensity." Kali wrote in his notes.
Kali: "No wonder only few people figured this out. Not to mention the expensive meat that is required for experimentation and mostly the moral values that comes with it. And if they ever tried it out, they either die of public execution, uncontrolled magic output, or just aren't able to master it to its full potential."
"This type of magic requires a medical expertise, only doctors could master this ridiculously complex magic."
He took a look on his notes once again and read: "Emotional Changes."
"Hmm. Maybe I should try studying the basics of magic first before I study this ascertained class.
"First of all, what are emotions exactly?"
Kali stared at the pork pieces: "I should've probably brought the pig's 'Mana Gland' with me. Maybe I could find out how magic is created in there."
Kali left the labyrinth and went outside.
He sat on top of a marble arc in the garden and stretched his tired body.
From the distance, he heard a voice calling his name.
It was Sinta, separately looking for him while Gale and Amel are looking somewhere else.
Sinta: "Prince Kali! Where are you?!"
She stopped by just below Kali to catch her breath.
Kali: "Up here! What's the matter?"
She breathes deeply: "There you are!" Then she quickly went up to him.
Sinta: "Are you okay? I've heard you hurt yourself."
Kali: "It's fine. It was just a small finger."
Sinta: "What happened? How did you get hurt?"
Kali: "I tried using a sword for once, turns out I am horrible at it."
Sinta: "Be a lot more careful next time, okay?"
Kali: "I'll try."
Gale walks in and hides, listening to the two talking.
Sinta relieved: "Oh my goodness! You can't just keep making us worried like that, okay? You're the most powerful prince in the world, you should never put yourself in danger."
Kali: "Most powerful you say, yet im being scolded by someone younger than me."
Sinta: "You made that assumption just because you're taller than me? Just to let you know, I am ten years old. That's right, I am already in double digits."
Kali: "Sure, kid. But I am eleven years old.
"Tough luck huh?"
Sinta: "I see, but it doesn't matter anyway."
Kali mocking her: "As you say, your majesty."
Sinta chuckled: "Are you really a prince?"
She pats him on the head: "But seriously, be careful."
Kali felt embarrassed. He nods.
Biel: "Hey losers! What are you doing?"
Kali: "Oh you probably haven't met-"
Sinta infuriated: "Huhh?! What did you say, punk?"
Biel: "I know you've heard me."
Kali concerned: "Uhh.."
Sinta: "Are you seriously underestimating me, the princess of Battrea?"
Biel: "Don't make me repeat myself, earless."
Kali: "Guys!"
Sinta: "I challenge you to a duel!"
Biel: "Sure. Let's settle it right here, right now."
Gale: "These kids aren't taking their title seriously."
Sinta jumped off the 3-meter tall arc and landed with her feet on the ground gracefully.
She took on a stance with her arms forward and open fists.
Biel held his greatsword behind him with both hands, hiding the blade from the opponent's view.
Sinta confused: "What's the matter? Are you going to unsheath your sword or not?"
Biel: "Are you blind as well? My sword doesn't have a sheath. This is my fighting stance."
Sinta: "Are you stupid? You're full of openings."
Biel: "You don't have to worry about that because you can only hit me once before you lose to me."
Sinta is pissed, she charges at him and punched him in the face with her metal gauntlet.
He is pushed back and his feet slides for a few meters, but he is still standing.
His cheeks bled.
Biel: "That hurts, but now it's my turn."
He dashed very quickly and closed the distance.
With all his might, he swinged his sword in one big slash.
Sinta tries to block it with her right arm and used her defender magic to reduce the force of the swing and brace her gauntlet for impact.
The sword connected with tremendous force and she got knocked away.
Her gauntlet got a dent but it managed to protect her bones from breaking.
She tried to stand back up and go back to her stance but her right arm is still shaking from the trauma.
Kali: "It's time to stop. You're both just hurting yourselves."
Sinta: "It's because he started it!"
She calmed herself down: "Fine. You won, but I will not lose next time."
Sinta's defensive fighting style is hard-countered by Biel's counter attack technique, but to be able to stand back up after getting hit with such attack is impressive.
Biel: "I'm surprised you were able to withstand my strongest move. You're the first person to get hit with that and not get cut into two pieces."
Kali: "Are you trying to kill her?!"
Sinta: "So you weren't holding back!"
Biel: "You asked for it."
Sinta: "Atleast have some conscience!"
Biel: "Another thing is that your punch really hurt, but I feel like you were holding back. Are you perhaps a warrior-class like me?"
Sinta: "Of course I would hold back in a small duel! Are you crazy?! And no, I possess defender-class magic."
Biel: "I see, so the punch was purely muscle power. Wait is that how the duel works?"
Kali: "You had no idea? You could've killed her?!"
Sinta: "Come on, I won't die that easily."
Biel: "She's right, she's tougher than steel."
Sinta: "That doesn't sound like a compliment."
Biel: "Of course it isn't, midget gorilla."
Biel and Kali laughed.
Sinta: "You two really likes insulting me, huh?"
She hits both of them.
Gale smiled: "Looks like I was worried for nothing." and left.
The three children sat on the marble arch while chatting.
Kali: "By the way, what did you mean back then?"
Biel: "Back when?"
Kali: "You said we will be seeing each other more often from now on. What does that mean?"
Sinta: "Does that have something to do with your job here? I was wondering if it's normal for royal knights to recruit a kid."
Biel: "I am a special case. I was specifically chosen by the Emperor for the next mission and for the future ones. I was tasked to become the lifetime personal knight of this guy." He points at Kali. "But first, they were going to test me for my efficiency next week where an important mission was given to us, it is to watch over the Emperor's family while visiting the city square in the upcoming Katacuesta Festival."
Kali: "You must be an amazing fighter for father to trust you like that."
Sinta: "I highly respect people who achieved their success with their own hardwork, and at a young age too."
Biel chuckled: "Uhh. . . Thank you. . ."
Sinta: "Speaking of which, I'm excited to be able to celebrate the festival in this city, where Princess Kata lived. I've heard that the city goes all out for their Katacuesta Festival every year."
Kali: "It's gonna be fun for sure just like the past years. I'm especially looking forward to this one with you guys. Biel is coming with us as well, right?"
Biel: "Yeah, but I'm planning to spend most of my time with my fiancé there."
Kali: "You have a fiancé!?"
Sinta: "At such a young age?! How old are you?"
Biel: "You two are the one to talk. I know about your relationship already. Well yeah, I forgot to mention I brought her with me to live in your castle. Also I'm eleven years old."
Kali: "It's because we're forced to!"
Sinta: "I wouldn't even think about marriage considering how young we are."
Biel: "Life is tough kids. You gotta make bold decisions sometimes."
Kali and Sinta: "You're the one to talk!"
