บท 18: The Day of Terrors
The sun is about to set when the third round ends. The list of the teams of finalists were posted on numerous bulletin boards across the Colosseum.
There was a board nearby but it was a bit crowded.
Cali looked at the list by himself to see their potential next opponents.
It lists: "Team Cali, Team Angels, Team Agham, and Team Victland."
It only enlists the teams and the schedule of the next rounds, but not the pairings or the order of the fights.
The fourth round will be tomorrow, 2 in the afternoon while the fifth round will be on 4PM.
There might be a break between the rounds if the fourth round ends before the scheduled time for fifth round.
Cali thought they'll just wait until tomorrow for the announcement of teams that will face for the next round.
Shine: "Hey, Cali!"
Cali: "Oh, what is it?"
Matt: "Looks like you guys survived this far." He laughed.
Pete: "You all are better than I expected!"
Cali: "Thanks. Also, congratulations on entering the semi-finals."
Shine: "Dont congratulate too early. If we arent matched to fight for the fourth round, make sure you wont lose to others so we can face each other in the finals. Alright?"
Cali: "You bet."
Tania: "See ya."
The Agham Team left.
Cali: "I'll go rest back in our room."
Mica: "Im going with you. I'll have to prepare our dinner."
Biel: "Are you guys staying here?"
Zen: "Im going to find my parents."
Biel: "You wouldnt mind if I tag along, right?"
Zen: "You saw how impatient my father is, right? He might say something rude to you, are you sure you want to come with us?"
Biel: "I wont mind."
Zen: "Okay. You could help us find them as well, is that alright?"
Biel: "Sure thing."
They wandered around the corridors. The corridor has no walls and is just made of arcs, openings, and columns with exquisite carvings for design, so its easy to find people wandering in the same area.
In just a few moments they found their father with their mother.
Zen: "Father!.. Im sorry for what I have spoke yesterday. I should'nt have raised my voice, but I still think you should not have judged Cali quickly. He is a kind friend and he saved our lives multiple times, too."
Mr. Rosace: "Is it true? He saved your lives?"
Ceed: "Yes, father. I have seen it myself. He is a capable man."
Mr. Rosace sighed: "I see. I must seek for forgiveness tomorrow, when I meet him. I should not have spoke too fast."
"Also, I must.. apologize... I saw your performance back then, Ceed. It was amazing. I must have not underestimated your skill and discouraged you when I must be the one encouraging you to grow stronger as your only father.." His voice starts to crack up as he starts to feel emotional.
"You must hate me for what I've said to you, thats why I cant blame you if you cant forgive me."
Ceed and Zen also cried.
Ceed: "Thats all I wanted to hear, father. I forgive you."
The four of them hugged each other.
Ms. Rosace said to Biel: "That red hair, you remind me of my father.. Sid Rosace.. Who are you?"
Biel's eyes emits a faint glow of white light.
Biel: "You will know soon enough, my child. Everything according to the Lord's plans."
Those odd words for some reason sent a chilling feel down their spine, like it awakened a certain fear that was long buried.
Zen: "Biel??"
Biel: "What I said was nothing.. To be worried about atleast." He laughed.
Zen: "Okay.. We're going. I'll see you again tomorrow."
Mr. and Mrs. Rosace: "Take care."
They both watched while the three of them heads back before they themselves leave.
At their room.
Cali: "Hey welcome back!"
Zen: "I just realized how creepy it is when theres not much people left in here as I walked down the dark hallway."
Cali: "You're actually scaring me."
Mica: "I know you guys are very hungry after those battles, but we have go wait a little more for the dinner. It should be close to done now."
After they had their dinner, they had a little chat before they sleep.
The next day.
It was a summer season, but it was unusually cloudy this time. Few hours later and it starts raining. There could be a chance that the tournament would get cancelled for today to resume in the near future, only if the rain continues to pour later in the time of schedule.
The audiences were wishing for the rain to stop before 2PM while the teams that are going to fight have different thoughts about it. Some wants it to be cancelled to rest for a while, and some wants the tournament to be done already.
Cali was one of the people that wishes it wont get cancelled, but his power currently has no capability to do that.
Its 12 in the afternoon. Supposedly its gonna be another hottest time of the day, but it wasnt.
Its finally 1PM. The rain stopped. The audiences starts to arrive. Organizers are trying to dry off the arena as fast as possible. The audience seats was on a different case because it has awnings to be somehow covered from the rain, so it was already dry.
The first match for fourth round was finally announced. Team Cali was paired against Team Victland and Team Agham was paired against Team Angels to fight in the second phase of the fourth round.
Team Cali prepared their weapons and immediately headed to the arena.
There were more audiences this time compared to yesterday, eager to watch the finals of the tournament.
Since they prepared early, Team Cali waited for a good while before the bells finally ringed.
Their enemy are serious about taking them down because if they won, theres a chance they could face Team Agham. Theyre giving them sharp glares that looks like theyre threatening them.
The battle has started by Team Victland attacking first with a massive flamethrower-like attack that is so enormous, it swallowed almost the whole stage.
Mica blocked it, leaving no one harmed.
Mica: "These guys are strong."
Ceed: "Lets watch out-"
Cali: "Ceed!"
Suddenly the opponent's Rogue (their leader) appeared behind Ceed out of thin air.
He punched his stomach so hard that it sent him flying outside the stage, instantly eliminating him in the game.
Mr. Rosace: "Ceed!!"
Mrs. Rosace: "Oh my goodness! I dont want to watch this, dear!"
Their Warrior rushed towards them quickly and attacks Zen. Biel parried his sword, but the enemy Rogue already approached and attacked Zen, knocking her unconcious by hitting her in the head using the dagger handle.
Cali is starting to panic and his chaotic emotions are once again emerging.
The opponent Arch Mage, Defender, and Ranger did nothing to imply that they dont have to.
The opponents tried to evade Biel and focused on Mica first. Biel couldnt stop both of them. Eventually the opponent Rogue kicked her stomach and knocked her out of the stage.
This is the power of a national team, trained to fight by the greatest teachers of their country for most of their life.
Cali is breathing heavily, trying to calm himself, but he cant. He's already deep within his anger.
It appears that Cali's promise not to get involved in the match would be broken.
Biel and Cali's Eyes started glowing intensely.
Biel: "My Lord! Please calm down!" He groans from his headaches.
Biel realized Cali could no longer hear him due to his anger.
Cali took over Biel's mind and granted him massive amount of mana.
Biel vanished in thin air.
He attacked the three opponents at the other end of the stage in a blink of an eye. Their blood splattered everywhere.
The opponent Rogue tried to attack Cali next, but before he could approach him, Biel already took out the opponent warrior and is now in front of him in an instant, even though he came all the way from the other end.
The Rogue felt helpless in Biel's speed. As a Victland Rogue, in his whole life, no one was ever faster than him. Seeing someone completely unmatch him in something he should be good at, crushed all of his dignity in mere seconds.
Biel dealt a powerful slash against him. His blood splattered in the stage. He was in a critical condition.
Cali finally calmed down after seeing what he had done. He approached the opponent Rogue. He then found out that was about to die. Cali healed him quickly. His blood starts to go back to his body while filtering the blood from foreign bacterias and elements. He restructured his body just like how it was before and brought him back to life.
The same thing also happened to the rest of Team Victland. They were all healed quickly and simultaneously.
Cali: "Take them to the clinic."
Biel carried all of them including Zen, Mica, and Ceed, to the clinic in just a short time.
Audience 1: "That fight was terrifying. Blood was all over the place!"
Audience 2: "What makes it more weird is that the blood started to flow back in their bodies then their wounds closed in."
Kupkop: "What happened?!"
Mrs. Rosace: "Oh, Lady Fiona, please let our children be safe."
