Dinner? Aurora looked at him puzzled like he had two heads.
"Yes, dinner," he simply replied her with a slight smile lifting the corners of his lips as he looked at her knowing very well why she was surprised by his question.
"I think I will be too busy preparing to leave that I won't be able to have dinner with my cousins," Aurora replied and walked out of the study to avoid anymore ideas that he might come up with.
As she walked down the corridor, she exhaled in relief. She knew very well that none of her uncle's children likes her. She was openly hated by them that they did not care about the rules of etiquette.
It was all because they thought their father treats her better than he treats them but they have no idea of how far the story goes. She was a sacrifice he made ready for the Kingdom and she believes he openly gave her more attention because he feels guilty of her impending end although she never placed any priority on what they said or how they felt.
They were very beautiful girls with elegant comportment and pleasant singsong voices that they did not seize to flaunt. Her uncle has only one son who was away right now for his military training at the border but he has so many daughters.
It is not common for people from her kingdom especially Kings to take in concubines but her uncle took in three concubines because he wanted more sons. Her cousin brother always had a weak body growing up, the sorcerer helped him get better and he got much more better afterwards but she requested that he gets sent to the border which was the only place he could fully recover.
As she took the steps down to the ground floor, she looked out of the window down to where her cousins always sat in the garden to learn poetry.
She never got the chance to participate with them since they all avoided her like plaque because they felt she was too different and her excess bravery and fearlessly was not appropriate for a noble lady.
Her uncle's wife tried to act close to her when she began approaching adolescence but that was the moment she wanted them all far from her since she was jealous of their normal life at that time.
The sorcerer who was her teacher was nice to her but she was always busy from dawn till lunch time learning about a set of creatures she desired to eliminate from the face of the earth.
She went of the castle to the back of the palace where her teacher's little house was situated. It was given to the sorcerer despite the disagreement of the elders of the city who did not want a seer, who is an evil mouth of to the devil dwell in the palace right where the king lived when they were clearly the same people who invited her to the kingdom after the massacre.
She knocked on the wooden door of the small house. The house was found at the back of the servant quarters. It was secluded purposely by the order of the king since most people were not comfortable with the presence of a witch among them.
Her teacher was very pleased with where the house was built. It made it easy for her to come into the palace through the North gate and exit when she needs. Most people don't get to see the seer because she was either within the house given to her by the king or outside of the palace and completely out of the city in the woods where she spends the rest of the day when she isn't with Aurora.
Her teacher always wears a long black cape that covered her whole being when she comes to the palace and goes back home making most people very unaware of her physical appearance.
Rumors had it that she was very old and wrinkled and her ugly appearance could scare a child to its death and make an adult forget to breathe.
The door opened and Aurora walked into the sorcerer's house.
"Good morning, princess," her teacher greeted from beside her.
She turned and looked at her teacher who held the door when she entered and was trying to close the wooden door behind her.
"Good morning Seer," Aurora returned her greeting with a broad smile. Her teacher had repeatedly corrected her to call her Seer when she kept calling her a Witch. It took years for her to finally give in and call her Seer and not the Witch she knew she was.
"Happy birthday," the seer told her after she closed the door and walked into the living room.
Aurora followed her inside. She looked around the house she was very familiar with. The books arranged on the shelf made it look like a mini library parked with books that were once forbidden in the kingdom.
The werewolf alpha's arrival made a lot of kingdoms forget there vow to stay away from sorcery and bring back those witches they had kicked out of the cities and town by throwing stones at them and even burning some of them with their books, clothes and furniture used as faggots.
They said he was born from the rage the moon goddess had towards the ruthlessness directed towards the witches and the less privileged. The Alpha was also said to be an abandoned child of a witch who was killed. The boy was adopted by the moon goddess and was given so much power to scare the humans but she made sure she created a weakness.
The all powerful Alpha King had one weakness and without that weakness, he will continue to expand his pack and his territory until humans are choked off the face of the Earth.
Her teacher told her those were only speculations of the normal man because werewolves have been existing long before anyone knew about the Alpha King.
The king became an avenger of the supernatural and nonhumans. The witch loved and respected him but according to her, she was bound to an unbreakable covenant that she had to do what the king her uncle wanted of her.
