She wanted to give up when she was thirteen when she wanted to live like the other noble ladies her cousins included but when the seer forced her to remember what happened that night, she had to accept task and answer the calling.
It was the nightmare that her uncle asked the witch to save her from but then it returned with the permission of the seer and she was haunted by the sight of the bodies of the people she grew up to love.
Her mother suffered most because she was trying to protect her through it all. Her mother did not give up despite the scratches and bites.
After her mother was finally slayed by her head ripped off her neck and her mother's warm blood splashed on her small frame, the werewolves in their wolf form simply walked to her steadily and they stared at her for a while before turning away and walked out of the room.
At first she began crying but when she finally took in the sight before her, the ripped apart copses of her believed ones, her small brain could not absorb it and she went into shock freezing to the point that she forgot to breathe.
What she heard in the midst of her darkness was the sound of footsteps and soon the voice of her uncle calling out to her.
Those were the last things she remembered before she drifted off into absolute darkness.
"You will go to the seer. She has something for you before you depart. You have two days to leave," he told her as he sat comfortably on the big wooden chair covered with the skin of the very lion she thinks of when she sees her uncle's hair which was behind the table Aurora sat facing.
"Two days?" she asked very surprised by this news he gave her. Two days was too soon no matter how she has tried for years to be ready every day.
"You must also leave early so you could arrive in Moon city. The journey is long," he tried to persuade her with a fragment of the truth hiding the other truth which was the main reason he wanted her gone.
Her fiancé will arrive soon to claim her and he did not want that to happen.
"You have the answers to give Edward, right?" Aurora asked. She has never been concerned with her fiancé before since she knew she only got betrothed to hide the mission she was assigned when people began asking questions about her.
Edward was the shield they chose because he is very much blinded by the love he has for Aurora that her nonchalant attitude and indifference to their relationship did not decrease his enthusiasm.
"Edward will be well taken care of," her uncle replied her as he unfolded a large paper. He spread it on the table and waved Aurora over to him. She went to him with a serious look. "I got the old map copied and I marked out some places and wrote a few tips you should not forget."
"Thank you," she appreciated as she looked at the map on the table. "I will leave tomorrow by dawn and in a fortnight the alpha will be dead, killed by me. I want only one thing to be done for me after my departure," she told him as slowly as she clinched her fists in front of her.
"What do you need?" the king asked shocked that Aurora was asking for something personal.
"I want my name to be written as the alpha slayer in our history that way, I will be able to rest with the past Queens and possibly get to see my mother on the other side," she requested slowly bowing her head as her fingers fought themselves.
The king was shocked once again to see Aurora humble. Most people blamed him for the excess self-confidence his niece has that she feared almost no one including him the king who was greatly feared on every single part of his kingdom and beyond and he happily took the blame.
He made sure Aurora was pampered except the fact that she had to study with the sorcerer every day.
He pampered her so much and gave her almost all his attention when he was with her making sure she never gets upset by anything he does.
He always gave her an explanation when he made certain decisions to prevent her from getting offended by any of his decisions and he became that way from the moment the seer told him of how special Aurora was.
He did not do any of that to be a good uncle to the orphaned princess but because of the benefits he gets from being nice to her.
His wife and two other concubines complained about it a lot and when he became very public with his acts of favoring Aurora, his children also began complaining severely but he had no intention to stop because he knew time was short and soon Aurora will be gone forever from them.
Seeing the girl who he has always pampered bowing to make request to him, he decided to verbally accept it with an open heart and find a way to make that happen.
But then he thought, when she is dead, will he be able to benefit from being kind to her?
"I will fulfill your wish, princess," he told her seriously with a sincere look on he face.
Even if he wrote down her name in their golden history book, will she be able to meet with the Queens of their kingdom? She was not really one of them so, could be a part of them on the other side of life?
"Thank you," she said bowing her deeply. She looked calm outwardly like a windless evening as always as she turned and walked towards the door of his study not even bothering to wait for him to dismiss her.
"Princess," he called her when she got to the wooden door of the study. He watched her pause and turned to look at him expressionlessly. "How about a dinner with the family today?" he asked as he searched for things to please her with before she finally leaves tomorrow.
Dinner? Aurora looked at him puzzled like he had two heads.
