The store was only three blocks away from the school, so they made it there without much trouble. They did have one huge issue when they arrived, the entire place was filled with zombies. It seemed that quite a few people had the same idea they did but died before they could grab anything.
Jake had no good way to get rid of the zombies in the market, so without a weapon he would have to get creative. All he had was a pair of keys and a phone he barely knew how to work. The data towers had all gone out and the power that made the internet work was down as well.
He activated the music on his phone and threw it outside of the store. The zombies were slowly shuffling out at a group, attacking the phone as the five snuck in. They all began filling up their inventions with foods and tools, including lighters, knives, and most importantly salt. The inventory here didn't have a linity, so he had no problem grabbing everything on the shelf.
Jake found a metal pipe, taped a knife to the end of it and dipped the end in salt, making himself a spear for protection. Strangely enough nobody was even surprised that they found two handguns and six magazines.
'What kind of placek has weapons that could kill ANY human laying around like this. I guess it works in my favor though.'
Jake didn't know how to use a gun so he had no problem giving it to two of the others. Jake knew that the only way he could guarantee his survival would be to get a ton of stats, and that would require a lot of kills. As such he walked outside the convenience store and started his onslaught.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING, YOU WILL KILL US!!"
The others protested, shooting their own bullets and getting ready for a hourd to approach them.
Jake still had his spear knowledge and skills, so the only thing holding him back from killing every zombie in sight was his stats. He ran up and slashed one's throat. They had such a low constitution when salted that he didn't even need to stab to kill. Simple slashes and spins let him take care of zombies before they even got into biting range.

The zombies kept on coming, and after 20 minutes his stamina was running low, and he seemed that he had an issue. Jake had no way to escape. He was completely trapped by the hord. He couldn't jump high enough to get on the top of the roof like he hoped, but he saw that he could eat gels safely, so he grabbed a light red gel and tossed it in his mouth.
[Strength +1]
[Taking any more gels for the next 24 hours will cause your flesh to decay on your body]
Compared to his original system, gaining stats here was much easier. On top of that, having decay immunity meant that there was nothing stopping him from eating all the gels he had. Light red was strength, dark red was vitality, light green was dexterity, and dark green for enderince.

He was getting extremely tired and in the middle of killing one a zombie came behind him, suddenly lunging and biting him. It couldn't break the skin. It felt like it was tickling him with his teeth. Jake wasn't stressed fighting them anyway, but this made him feel even safer. The only problem was going to be explaining it to his group.
Jake was now inhumanly strong and fast, along with having spear skills that could rival that of some masters. They would also eventually see that even the system wouldn't grant this level of power so quickly. He started by grabbing them and throwing them up onto the roof. The sun wouldn't go down for another few hours, and that's when mutants could come out.
"What the hell is this! Why are you so strong?"
"Yah, you look like one of the novel protagonists from the future. Wait, is this your second time around!!"
"No, no, the system is just telling me what to do."
Jake said, just trying to get them off his back.
"Look, once you get to level five you can start raising your stats. Then you can get stronger."
"Hmm. I got a dexterity point from running, but it started at only two. This is so cool!"
"Cool. COOL everyone we know is probably dead and you're saying this is cool! I can't believe that we need to go help see if my familys alive. Or- or what about your girlfriend?!? Don't you care about her!"
He was seriously hyperventilating and freaking out, compared to earlier where he was pretty expressionless. One of the other group members grabbed him and began shaking his body
"Pull yourself together Mark, we don't have time for this. We have to survive first, then we can try and save others. Let's get strong so we don't have to worry about dying first."
Jake budded in.
"He's right. We can look for survivors once we have somewhere to bring them. We should get to his home first, then we can go to the school and find some people."
Mark pulled himself away.
"Fine, let's go quick then. They probably won't make it till the end of the day if they don't have someone like Jerry with some way to kill zombies."
"Tomorrow. We have no idea what happens to them at night. They could be more aggressive or something."
Jake pointed out, not wanting to rush things. They all went back to the apartment, which was extremely underwhelming. It only had one bedroom and one bathroom, and nearly nothing was in the fridge. They dispersed to get everything out. The inventory couldn't carry something as big as a washer or fridge, so they choose to sleep then go in the morning. Jake's stamina was bottoming out, so sleeping was the next step.
