Astral Wind was extremely strong on the serfos, but when actually in practice it was more of a precaution than anything else. It only added minimal damage which is why it could be held in the small gem. But having double effect would definitely make it worthwhile to wear especially with it providing a total of 50 stats, 100 for her.
The effects of metalworking mastery, crafting haste, and his class up were apparent as it only took around an hour to make a common piece of equipment. He was extremely happy to have finished it before class started, and could still make it on time.
The first class started again, teaching about magic. Unlike the last class, this one was much more applicable to Jake. The teacher was lecturing about temporary magic weapons, like his flame spears or Ray's shark trident.
They were formed using a mold of mana rather than a circle of streat up making them. The mold was extremely mana cost effective, and leveling the skill up would make the mold better and more complex. Variants of temporary magic weapons would be caused by runes on the mold, making their creations also have a matching one. So adjusting the mold by adding an explosive rune would make the weapon explosive.
One could even put a full magic circle on it, but it would require one to use mana remotely where the rune would activate on touch aftering being put on. So even to magic circles where effective, it would be difficult to do until one had a good level of mastery over the mana in the air. It didn't give him any EXP, but it was still interesting and might be useful if he wanted to start putting magic circles on his own crafts.
Jake's monster class was talking about zombies, but after a few minutes he knew everything he needed too. Most of their damage came from the decay effect they applied, and they would instantly dissolve if hit with a different decay effect, meaning that he could easily take care of any zombie and be immune to most of its damage with his ring. They were also weak to salt as it would dry them out, making them extremely soft and easy to cut through.
The professor also said something about their personal experience and how one of the reward capsules gave them a salty sword sharpener which made the sword better against them. This reminded him that he also had five reward capsules that he was yet to open.
[Opening Reward Capsule X5]
You rolled a [Unused Stat Point](20% Chance)
You rolled a [Full Roleplay Quest Scroll] (1% Chance)
You rolled a [Basic Mana Powder](70% Chance)
You rolled a [Bandage](70% Chance)
You rolled a [Cola](70%)
Each one spun a wheel that had a 70%, 20%, 9%, and a 1% which each had a reward. Jake put his extra point into magic, and left the rest of the rewards unclaimed as once he claimed them he didn't have anywhere to store them. Another few minutes later he claimed the cola, so that he would have something to drink.
It ended up giving him an extra stamina point for a few hours but it was such a low effect it wasn't really worth using. Jake switched his ring in for his inner accessory so that it wouldn't draw too much attention in class. Jake's combat class was just a bit of sparing, which was mostly trivial with his high stats.
"Lexy! Can you break for a second?"
She stopped her fight with the swordsmen she was with soon after Jake spoke and went over to speak to him.
"What's up, Jake? Do you want to spar too?"
"No, I wanted to give you this ring."
After taking it out, many students turned toward it sensing its power. Lexy immediately started blushing, recognising that it was not only an engagement ring, but from her family.
"Th-this is my family design, how did you get this?"
Jake knew it might stir up a bit of trouble, but was hoping that it wouldn't be too weird.
"I'm not proposing just so we're clear, the design is a long story but just take it."
She put it on, and even the attempt to hide her face couldn't mask the stars in her eyes with all the abilities it provided. Immediately fog began to fill up the arena area. Within just a few seconds everyone's vision was reduced to near zero. Jake was fine due to his special reconstruction ability, the rest of the class was freaking out a little bit.
"STUDENTS"
The professor yelled, dissipating the fog in one swoup.
"Please do not interfere with the other students' duels. And Jake, come see me."
Jake had already attracted a lot of attention with the ring, and now the professor called him in, he was just hoping that nobody would find out he had made the ring. He had already told one person and was really hoping the info would stop there.
"Mr Alexander, it seems that you have been lying to me. I don't mind this of course, but I feel I should tell you I know. I legally can't tell anyone, but if you want to transfer into the crafters class I can transfer you in."
Jake had always wanted to fight, and with his second life he didn't really have a choice except to train into the best fighter he could be. He only considered switching programs for a second before answering.
"I would prefer to stay in this class. I have been training since I was 4 or 5, I'm not going to stop fighting now."
"Alright, just making sure. Get back to class. Remember that if you are having any issues you can come to me."
"Yes sir."
