Chapter 22
Rose Black, the Black sheep,
Just like I expected, mother got sick. She couldn't even leave her room. Doctors had to attend to her in the bedroom.
Of course, she couldn't sleep. What did she expect was going to happen after someone you sold for death made it back alive? Ah, funny, isn't it? This is just the beginning. I plan to make her pay dearly for destroying the only love and home I'd ever known.
As I descended the stairs, I could hear whispering from the doctors about my mother's condition. I just ignored them and went over to the balcony; it was nice that my father changed the pattern of the house, now one can take a breather anytime. I sat on the wooden manufactured sofa and sipped my tea.
"Wow, you looked so very comfy, even when your mother is fighting for her life and that of her unborn child," Gloria said in an aggressive tone
Sighing, I just came out for some fresh air. Guess that isn't happening. "So? How does that affect me?" I replied with the same tone and just continued sipping my tea.
"Oh, my God! You are so unforgivable, Rose, and it doesn't suit you." She spat out in a fit.
"Wow, and you are such a dutiful sister to know what suit me, right? I questioned her in a dangerous tone, but she couldn't say anything. Sighing, "Whatever. Although I wonder."
"What?"
"I mean, I know mom and I are not the best team in the family, but doesn't it strike you as weird? I've been gone like what...three years, and then I returned. Suddenly she is ill? Please, that's just unpleasant." I smirk, but of course, if someone who supposedly died suddenly returns, it will surely deliver a sudden enormous blow.
"Well, even if it is, I just -------" her phone rang, she picked the call, after a while "Well, I've to go," she smiled, "It's good to see you, though."
I glared at her. "I wished I could say the same." I replied, and that was the truth.
"Whatever." She said and stormed out.
I stayed silent for a while, enjoying the peace. Then I heard a noise from downstairs. I looked down from the balcony. It was the stupid couple, but this time it was just the husband in a white gown speaking to someone. I leaned over to the edge. "Hey stupido? Where is your crazy wife?" I spat in a loud voice
He raised his head. "What the hell?"
Noticing his white gown, "Oh, you are a doctor? That's amazing. You look too stupid to be a doctor."
"Rose????"
I turned my gaze to someone he was speaking with and shit, it was my father, and he looked pissed "Oh, hey dad. Do you know just how small you are from up here?" I asked the pissed face, "Oh, well, see you later." I said and went inside
I shut Mr Clay off words, he turned to John, "Sorry sir for asking, but is she really your daughter? There must have been a mistake somewhere." He said with disbelief. He can't imagine a well-mannered family to spring something like that.
Sighing "Yes, there was indeed a mistake but none of which you are thinking," although he was trying to turn a blind eye, he could never imagine that the issues of years ago would still be in his wife's mind and worst it was in Rose's too. But she was his daughter. He has no intention of sending her away, no matter what. He turned to Clay. "Forget about that and just continued with what you were saying."
Huh? "Sure, there is no need to move her to the hospital. The pregnancy is still in an early stage, there is no danger, but if she continues in such a condition, I can't say how it would look like now for three months. It could be dangerous. Let's just watch and see. If it becomes serious, we'll move her to the hospital." He smiled. "Don't worry, Mr Black, she and the baby will be alright."
"Sure." He replied but knew otherwise. "So, how is the single father's life treating you?" John asked, changing the subject
"Not nice. So I sent the kids to spend some time with my mother." Although it's a pain in the neck to balance both his busy work and taking care of the kids with no help, he was glad to be free of that wicked excuse of a marriage, it's been six months since the separation and his ex was already out of the country with her new family, she didn't waste any time to jump into; almost as if she was waiting for the marriage to crumble down.
"Sorry to hear that, but now that you are single and, obviously, need help in taking care of the kids, don't you think it's best to settle down again?"
"Yeah, you're right." He thought about but ------
"Found anyone?"
"No, not really. I don't think they are any woman out there who wants to shoulder the responsibility of a grown, worn-out man with two kids."
"Worn-out? Don't be absurd. If you're worn out, what about me, huh? And I still have enough juice for me to father another child. You are still very young and strong, no doubt you'll find the perfect woman for you and learn to love again." John encourages
"I doubt it." He manage out.,
"I don't." Father said, patting him on his shoulder, "Oh, it's time for dinner. Come join us, it will be better than those can food." He smiled
"Oh, that's a little ------" the stemmed
"Don't bother, I know that to be the case, a young man with two kids who can not cook, it's easy to guess."
"Well, if you insist, sir?"
"I do."
He followed John in, and before you know it, we set dinner.
A knock came on my door. I opened it to see the maid standing outside. "Yes?" I asked, frowning
"Your father, ask me to inform of dinner." She said, smiling
I stare at her. "Where is my father?"
"Oh, he went upstairs to freshen up. We have a guest, and he also said you shouldn't wait up for him."
Annoying, "is that all?" I wasn't smiling. Since my nanny, I've grown to hate house helps
"Oh, yeas ma?????"
"Then piss off." I scorn, then closed the door with a loud bang.
