After what felt like an eternity, the last of the unknown entities strolled by. Or maybe floated. Flynn couldn’t be sure. He didn’t have the courage to peek downward. Calian stopped whatever he was doing with the cane and tapped the sharp bottom edge on the ground seven times. Flynn counted them, and he was taken aback when the normal noises and scenery returned. Cars were zooming by on the road, and there were people all around.
“What the hell just happened?” Flynn inquired while staring at Calian.
“Not here,” Calian replied with a bland expression his face. “I’ll answer all questions from you and Gage after we’ve reached your apartment.”
Flynn was hesitant to continue with their initial plan, but his curiosity won out. “Fine. Let’s go.”
