Casey was in his kitchen drinking coffee when I found him. “You want a cup?”
As if on cue, I yawned. “Please.”
“I have to go into the office, so I’ll drop you off at the hospital, is that all right?”
“Actually could you drop me off at home? That way I’ll have my car and you won’t have to worry about picking me up or anything later.”
He nodded. “All right. I wouldn’t mind though.”
“I know.” I poured cream into the cup of coffee he handed me. “But you’ve already done more than enough for me.”
“I like doing things for you,” Casey said, shrugging.
I gave him a quick kiss. “I like it, too. But I don’t want to run over you or anything.”
“Run over me?”
Sighing, I bit my lip. “You know. We’ve only been going out a short time. My life is already making a lot of demands on you. I-I don’t want to scare you away.”
He looked amused as he took a sip of his coffee. “Do I look afraid?”
“No,” I admitted. “But you might think everything’s going at breakneck speed.”
