decided I wasn’t going to give up that easily. You needed to be coaxed, I could

see that. You needed to be courted.”

Patrick let out

a short bark of a laugh, then slapped his hand over his mouth.

Lee frowned at

him. “I admit things were nearly derailed with all the trouble about my flat. I

apologise for letting things get on top of me on Monday. I was terrified things

were going wrong, and so quickly, unless I could sort it all out. Especially

after Saturday night…”

Lee was so

magnificent when he blushed. “No one’s ever courted me,” Patrick said softly.

“I’m not

surprised, Mr Gruff,” Lee muttered.

“And so… now?”

Lee tilted his

head quizzically.

“It’s my turn,”

Patrick hurried on. He refilled their glasses. “My invite said to come with an

open mind and heart. It’s more than that for me. I want to giveyou my

heart, Lee. If you want it, of course.” He blushed very deeply—when had he ever
