“That’s why a lot of people don’t come out and tell their friends and family. I didn’t tell my mom until after I graduated college and went into the Air Force. I was so proud of you for coming out to your sorority sisters even if it indirectly led to your friend’s ex-husband tripping. Some people, and I don’t fault them, choose to keep their sexuality in the closet.”
“You’re not in the closet, are you?” Asking this of my girlfriend of three months did seem a little bit late but everything was so new. I wouldn’t know honestly if she was or not. I mean, I met her gay friends and some of her co-workers, but I really did not have a gauge of how she conducted herself in the public.
