บท 209: ANOTHER CHANCE AT HAPPINESS

Bertha ran after Zerith, following him through the long and empty corridors. Theodora was asleep, and Lord Ralph and Lady Cordelia were resting in their private chamber on the other side of the mansion.

She knew what she was about to do was going to hurt both her and Zerith, but she couldn't stop herself.

Her legs were still in pain after the beating she received from Lord Ralph. That beating was so brutal that she couldn't sit up or walk for over a week.

Even after that, she wasn't in a condition to move, but how long she could rest while Theodora was pregnant and Lord Ralph had ordered against any maid or servant to take orders from her?

So she had to get back on her feet and take care of Theodora.

But now that she was running, she realised, she might never be able to run as fast as she used to before that beating.
